The biggest thing that's bothering me about the music, though, is that it's not memorable to me.
I literally forgot the entirety of the song after hearing it for the first time, and due to my bias with wubstep it only left bad taste in my mouth.

You seem to not understand the purpose of a trailer. The music is not the central part of the trailer and prospective buyers will not be overlooking the game because they hated the music used in a trailer. What the trailer demonstrates is the visuals, capabilities and gameplay of the thing they're looking to buy.

General Discussion / Re: Should the corner jumping bug be fixed?
« on: December 16, 2013, 07:42:02 AM »
I think the reason it has spawned debate is because the bug has been in Blockland for so long that it almost appears to be intentionally left in, so much so that numerous saves have incorporated the bug into their gameplay.

The fact that its been around so long just creates questions about why it still exists.. "Is Badspot aware of it?", "Does Badspot have more pressing priorities?","Is the bug difficult to fix and can Badspot fix it without remaking parts of the game", "Is the  glitch intentional?" or "Does Badspot approve of the glitch?"

I think that whatever the reason for the bug having existed for so long, the general view is that it is best removed if possible, and that the feature be remade in the form of an Add-on if it's wanted by some users.

I think I can answer all of this relying only on common sense.

Yes the bug is almost certainly difficult to fix and no it's not a pressing issue - that's why it's been around for so long. I don't think any effort will be expended to make it optional in any way - if effort is ever put into fixing it at all.

It's not like it has been unfixed for years

Because that's absolutely a point of consideration in this decision, yeah. Say more irrelevant things please.

It's fairly obvious this should be fixed - I don't know why it needed a debate thread. It's not like it would go unfixed if everyone decided they wanted to keep it anyway.

I doubt that has anything to do with it, but I'm starting to see what maybe RTB hosting isn't as good as it says.

RTB has been pretty good to me, and I thank them for that, but what are these crashes?

The #1 cause of servers crashing is add-ons. We run test servers which stay up for months at a time which just run default add-ons and they experience no problems. Dos attacks cause connection issues not crashes. To be clear - yours is the only server crashing like this. It's a problem with you.

All RTB Hosting is, is essentially a desktop that you run your server on. If Blockland's crashing it's either your fault or Blockland's fault. Don't go blaming the service.

i mean really, and then you posted about it

now everyone knows your server goes down without a fight with even casual dos'ng

seriously, that kind of dos wouldn't even slow down a residential connection launching it. toss in tor (which is like major no-no to doses, but if you're doing something that loving low quality (1 request a second) then you're not even slowing down tor. a considerate starfish, what a strange concept) and suddenly subpixel is forgeted and no one knows who did it.

with everyone dosing nowadays, it was incredibly stupid of marble to do it and for subpixel TO POST A VULNERABILITY PUBLICLY ON HIS OWN loving SERVICE.

you're both at fault here for very different things. next time, take this kind of stuff up in PMs so sensitive info doesn't get disclosed.

You can easily take down most amateur websites anyway, I don't see what your point is. He's using cheap shared hosting and each request has to hit the shared disk a high number of times every second, including to transfer the file being requested. Cheap shared webhosting isn't build to withstand this kind of traffic - your expectations are stupid and your understanding is poor. Comparing this to attacking a residential connection is comparing apples and oranges.

Subpixel isn't at fault at all, it's just marble man playing with stuff he doesn't understand and it having unintended consequences. Not to mention running up someone's bandwidth bill just to raise a download count is ridiculous and I've banned people from RTB for doing the same thing.

That's like saying "If you're in a server with someone annoying just leave"

Except it's not because blocking him takes nothing away from you besides annoyance. Stop being a friend.

Idk, ephilates.
i might make another mini town if you dont destroy it again.

Just don't - this isn't a mini empires server. Try something different.

132
It should be showing you now, there was a bit of a backlog earlier. If it isn't, just start up BL with RTB and then refresh the page.

I haven't had time to sort it out yet - I will do at some point.

The snowball fights are pretty brutal ...

Badspot's Block Party - Christmas Theme

Block Parties are back on the menu once again and we're going right in for a traditional Christmas themed terrain build. I'll be adding pictures into the thread as we go along.

The objective of this build is to build within the constraints of a Christmas terrain scene. You're free to build almost anything as long as it's on terrain and it all fits in with surrounding builds. As usual, Badges of Quality are available for builds that really bring something new and exciting to the table so I'd encourage everyone to join the server and have a shot at building for the theme.

A not-so-well known feature of Blockland is that clicking rapidly on snowy ground while it's snowing will allow you to make a snowball to throw at other players - these are deadly in a minigame so you can expect to see lots of hide-and-seek style snowball-oriented minigames taking part around the entire build.
