A few people making connection requests to a server will not lag it - it'd be fine.

Keep the connection interval somewhere around 1 second though - nothing ridiculous.

The IRC network we use is notoriously unreliable. I think we only continue to use it in memory of Mocheeze.

When we switch to RTB Connect the IRC network will lose about 75% of it's traffic.

The only things non-paying people wouldn't get are things that increase my bandwidth and disk usage, and I think that's fair.

The alpha has been spontaneously crashing recently during testing, and given the randomness of the crash it's unlikely that it's anything the RTB code is doing to cause it. This indicates some sort of memory issue within the engine which will have to be debugged so beta is going to be set back a bit until this is done. Other than that I'll continue work on the chat rooms and steam overlay until engine debugging is done.
