Just watched the movie. I don't understand why the Republic was also called the Resistance almost interchangeably; if the empire had fallen, who are they resisting? Does this make the First Order the rebels? Did they already have total control of the Galaxy? Sure, the name fits by the middle of the movie, but I don't understand why the good guys were the Resistance in the beginning, too.

The Republic is the main government in the galaxy that is demilitarized. The Resistance was formed to defeat the growing First Order. The Republic supports the Resistance. This is all stated in the opening credits.

rey is a natural pilot and has a rebel pilot helmet, like luke
her and luke both pull the same lightsaber from the snow in dire situations
han and chewie give her a position on their crew hours after they meet her, after working alone for 30+ years. han wants to watch over his neice.

Finally saw the movie, I cried like a bitch when Solo died even though I knew it was coming. My favorite character was Poe, Finn is cool I like the humorous scenes with him. Rey is bit of a Mary Sue but if they expand on her abandonment problems I think she will grow as a character.

In this movie, they established the conflict and solved it within the first movie of a planned trilogy.

The Republic is crippled or destroyed, the First Order is the largest power in the galaxy, none of the villains died, Han Solo must be avenged, Rey must find out her true past and parentage, they still have to explain how they found the lightsaber. The original movie was wrapped up better than this.

Also I wanted to see more of Hosnian Prime before they blew it up, I wanted some scenes of the Republic senate. Can't believe I'm saying this but I wanted more of the Republic politics, George Lucas was right all along.

EDIT: Stormtroopers are actually badass in this movie. Except Phasma.

They're both RPGs made by Bethesda using the same engine.
Can you name any further similarities?

you level infinitely
weapon/armor modification
questlines with little depth
identical lockpicking
stealth skills are completely OP and broken
identical follower system
re-used animations
mostly consists of fetch/clear dungeon quests

i like the game but u can't deny its skyrim with a different color paint

It also doesn't explain why there were so many child Jedi for anakin to slaughter in the third movies.

the jedi usually take babies with high midichlorians (i hate myself for saying that) from their families and indoctrinated them from a young age to fight and die for their religion. wow anakin was right the jedi are evil lmao

I'm just trying to figure out who rey is. It could only really be another child of Leia or luke forgeted someone. But I thought jedi weren't supposed to fall in love so idk how they reproduce.
