« on: December 08, 2010, 04:51:15 PM »Except Christmas isn't Jesus's Birthday, it's the Winter Solstice.I know it isn't Jesus's birthday, and I know the origins of it's chosen date. A commemoration, really, created as a rather minor holiday. Many early Christians didn't even believe in celebrating Christmas (It didn't even exist for several hundred years after Christianity was established), and even some today still don't.
You can thank christards for being uninformed that their religion is an amalgamation of assimilated beliefs.

Regardless, Christmas is certainly a good example of a sharing of cultures - as it should, of course, stay (As you stated). Whether the culture be religious or secular, Eastern or Western, or whatever so else may stand - bringing about those ideas of selflessness, generosity, and Love that we should exhibit not just during the season, but all year 'round. c:
