So you've suddenly realized you are in a fortunate position compared to some. Why have you suddenly chosen now to throw this on the rest of us just because you were too slow to notice it yourself. I'm sorry, but I only see a very cheesy side of this topic. This isn't the kind of community that will appreciate this very much, either.

And Sirrus has fine reason to bring this up. The forums have been harboring much drama lately - not that it always hasn't, just it seems now there is an inflation. Some people don't typically realize in every moment of their life how blessed they are.  Some are too blind by desire or dulled by suffering to realize it; Others choose simply not to. What ever the case though, at least to me, his sharing is much appreciated. c:

Maybe you don't understand this, but in the real world, the strong survive, we beat them fair and square. I suppose the indians stole the country from the bears, right?

The American Indians lived with the bears, not often in place of them. And the "strong" survive in the cycle of life. Humans just often try to apply that idea to everything else.

That's very nice of you. If you win the lottery you don't just give it away because you got the money through luck. And you shouldn't be any less happy about your present situation because other people have it worse. You suck if you're depressed about everything, you suck if you're an optimist who justifies all wrongs with "well, it's worse somewhere else". That doesn't make the problems of people who have it better any less important.

Indeed. But I think he was trying to say that we should be grateful and much more joyful for the fact we have what we have, not bad for the fact others have less. Certainly we should extend our understanding and assistance to those less fortunate and give that what we can, but just feeling pity for people won't help them much (As you said). At least, that's what I got from it.

That was a result of the History channel, too.

Mage was messaging me about stealing towels from hotels before.

We talked about that Ladios, it's not stealing; They are free. They wouldn't put them out if they weren't. :c

For some reason this "think how lucky you are compared to third-world countries" stuff never makes me happy or appreciate anything

Maybe it's because you see it as saying we should be grateful that we aren't unfortunate like others. Honestly, we should be grateful for the fact we have anything in the first place, not because we have more than someone else. :o
