I understand her concern as it isn't easy seeing your child be exposed to those sort of comments. But why let the boy on the interwebs if he isn't ready to deal with harsh comments? He shouldn't have to in the first place, but that's the world these days. People do as they please, especially teens, and especially those on the interwebs, as they feel they can get away with it. Nine out of ten times they can. At least here they can.
That's why I do commend businesses these day, because many now look on Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter for accounts of new applicants, to see if they want the applicator working at said business. It's quite clever. :3
Regardless, the Mum overreacted and should watch her child's online activities more carefully if she doesn't want him exposed. I'm sure she is a very good Mother and cares deeply for her son, but complaining to Ephi doesn't get much done. It's probably more so counter-productive, if anything.
