General Discussion / Re: Tutorial Speedruns - Ipquarx is current winner

Lol that's not even my fastest run: 14.853 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJGFnJ6aaPM

I followed the rules since I didn't tele or edit any part of the build.

Everything has assumed the map is in its default state upon beginning, but good try.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KC-lIB3uTU

22.636 without any of the goofy horse stuff
i'm def never using obs for recordin again god the quality is so bad

Nice! Probably going to be the best route with very minor time to save in mechanics.

General Discussion / Re: Blockland Fall Damage Glitch

1.) You must have just orbed.  I don't know why, but it doesn't work if you change your player's position directly.

This is because you are teleported to a position 2.156 units lower than the camera's position upon using /dropPlayerAtCamera. Subtract this value from your 147.86 value (and other values I am about to mention) and you will find that it still works.

2.) You must fall exactly 147.86 Torque units.  So if you're falling onto a 2x2 brick, you have to fall from a height of 148.46 TU.

Okay this is maybe a bad explanation but here goes:

When falling, your velocity always increases at a predictable rate. These1 are the first 128 velocities (Z, negative, absolute) you will find your Blockhead going through. As you might guess, a physics engine updates position by taking the velocity and subtracing a value based on how much time has elapsed since it was last processed. These2 are the first approximate 128 positions (Z, negative, relative) you will find your Blockhead at. Should your current position be within ~0.016 units of the ground, there seems to be some code that nudges your position slightly (like 0.00033 units?) that occurs and breaks flow in the physics routine before the next velocity frame position update, which would kill you.

So if you fall from within 0.016 (still unsure about range) of the heights in 2nd link, you'll live.

EDIT: Changed the second link a bunch of times; added "approximate" disclaimer but they all should work.

Ctrl-K'd until 24.530 (video). Time saved first came from the initial 2 second period - since you are able to move after looking 135 degrees, I held W and D before clicking to respawn to immediately move in the right direction as soon as possible. Also, by holding duck during a bit during your fall, you can fall right into the doorway and get jump without having to walk into the room. Then a bit more time saved from jumping directly to the "MOVE" sign.

There's a liiitle more to save (I had a 24.6xx and was hoping for under 24.5) but I did too many attempts.

Wot? The only thing it removes is the time for the build to ghost.

Incorrect. There exists a trigger here: http://i.imgur.com/jBX7Imq.png . While in it, every 50 milliseconds it checks to see if you have found 1 or more chests. If you have, in 2 seconds, you complete the tutorial. In your video, you already have the chest clicked from before (confirmed by seeing the text shown on clicking the chest) and thus your timer stops 2 seconds after entering the red area, rather than 2 seconds after clicking the chest. For this reason, the run is invalid.

K3k0m@n you should probably remove his vid from the OP.

Wow, that's a really great strat. A little note is that you don't have to let go of W for it to register the jump but you do need to let go of W the moment you jump in order to be able to make it directly onto the pillar. I managed to get 24.8 seconds! I missed the chest on the first click and probably lost .3 of a second. Video here: http://puu.sh/bxvxh/61ea93e382.mp4

I guess I meant register a full jump. But yeah you just can't hold it.

Also not doing the run from a fresh server start causes the time to be lower. Run is invalid ;)

Thanks for the thread, seems to have sparked a bit of competition among us.

I just made a strat to get 26.433 (video). You can probably do it a tiny bit faster, since my angle for the chest at the end was awful, but regardless it's a different route. If you don't know the glitch, you need to let go of W when you hit the pillar in order for it to register your jump. Obviously then press W again to move forward onto it. If someone could get under 25 with this it'd be really cool!

Games / Re: Which gaming console had the best controller?

Gamecube controller. If you don't need a stick, Super Famicom, or GBA-SP if it counts.

Took a new image

Added to the Album aswell.

This brings back good memories of one of the first servers I played on in like 2007.

As for the bedroom, it could be argued that building a full-on interior out of static shapes is too inefficient (with ghosting or whatever), but depending on how you did the asteroids, that could be an amazing add-on.

Well you gotta tell us which Gameboy games, or does she still have them with her?

Please excuse the fact that I haven't been completely following this topic but what do they have to do with the hack?
I haven't seen them post once in here, then again I haven't been following this topic too much.

Zapk just forced everyone to delete their Blockland installations last week.

The first lol.

You can't write 0 to the file because torque can't handle 0 at all. (I'm sure you know this, btw.)

Yeah, I was just hoping you stumbled across something incredible. :(

Good luck on the project's actual goal then!

0xFF,0xFD is the character 0x00, or the null string terminator

This is the important one. What do you mean?

1) Passing 00 to the api writes FFFD to the file
2) Passing FFFD to the api writes 00 to the file

5.172.248.223 - - [16/Aug/2014:13:16:51 -0400] "GET /domains/ftp.txt HTTP/1.0" 304 - "http://zapkraft.net/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:28.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/28.0"

You should probably get him to post more from the log, because 304 is a response code sent when the browser still has the same version of the file and can just view the cached version instead. Meaning that line was someone going to the url who already saw the file, which was apparently only Zapk.

Regardless, given his other incidents, you might want to switch hosts. Like soon.

Mega Slowbro could have been awesome, but they replaced REGENERATOR with loving shell armor. Poor guy.

Yeah seriously - doesn't have Leftovers, doesn't have Regenerator. And it's not even like "oh, it doesn't have Regenerator, but instead it has Magic Guard." It might as well just not have any ability at all once it megas.

Catch it

this pikachu avatar fad worked out well because my avatar is a character from the pokemon games what a coincidence
