that does't make sense, just because I used mexicans as an example doesn't mean I am not refering to everyone. You're missing the point. The Bill points out Mexicans specifically, and so it's racially profiling. And there are quite a few tribal cops in Arizona, I'm sure they wouldn't mind ruining the day for a Mexican.
Also SUSPECT of being illegal. That is what they do already, it's not a big deal.
It is a good law. They aren't going to 'pull random people' out of their just because they are mexican. It allows them to quickly resolve the matter without calling the problem and whatever else they do. Also it is called a driving license, you wouldn't have to carry around birth certificates...
Arizona lawmakers on Tuesday passed one of the toughest pieces of immigration-enforcement legislation in the country, which would make it a violation of state law to be in the U.S. without proper documentation.
It would also grant police the power to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being illegal. - IE Random People
Hmmm.... What if someone forgets their stuff at home? How does this NOT break the 4th amendment for citizens? What about tribal cops? You have to show them proof of birth. So if you're Mexican, you have to carry your personal documentation in Arizona. This bill effectivley mandates racial profling.
I'm against illegal immigrants, but still.
But really, what's so bad about this law? They can stop any Mexican American and ask for papers confirming citizenship, even without grounds for suspicion. How many of us carry our birth papers around?
"Papers please!" New AZ law allows police to stop and verify the immigration status of anyone they suspect of being illegal.I'm at a loss to describe this atrocity.

The bill could still face a veto from Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer. A spokesman for Ms. Brewer said she has not publicly commented on the bill. Ms. Brewer, a Republican, has argued for stringent immigration laws.
Under the measure, passed Tuesday by Arizona's lower house, after being passed earlier by the state Senate, foreign nationals are required to carry proof of legal residency.
And how, pray do tell, does a citizen - not required to carry ID "prove" that he or she is not "illegal?"
Welcome to police state creep. Let's hope the Governor vetoes this bill.
tribal. In Arizona, cops can ask any Mexican for citizenship papers now. Even without grounds.
