The thing is I just played through Crysis last week and had no problems.
Things like this can just happen one day.

What graphics card do you have?

I had a problem like this once before, and it was my GPU dying of old age.

If AOTS wasn't terrible and DirecTV still had G4 on it I'd watch it.

You have to ruin all my topics, Snaffle. :C
Because they're either stupid or about things I don't agree with.

The resolution you recorded that at is pitiful and you are often getting below 20 frames per second. That's not a good video in terms of recording quality.
That's the resolution I'll use, and that was the only game I had a framerate drop on when recording.

Real time dual recording and compression is incredibly CPU intensive. You'd be better off to just record footage and compress it at a later time or your video may be unwatchable.
I recorded this with WeGame (a program that records and compresses at the same time) before they started charging a membership fee to get HD recording

I have a dual core processor.

Like I said it has ridiculously large file sizes but if use another program sure the file size will be small but the quality will be complete stuff. It'll look like a mesh of colors. Fraps is a somewhat crappy program but the best out of all the other crappy programs.
I don't want to resize the videos, just compress them.

I want one that compresses the videos by itself so that I don't need to record a video and then manually compress it so I have room to record another video and so on.

As for recording software I'd use Fraps. The file size is ridiculously large, it costs quite a bit of money, it can be a huge CPU whore, but it's still one badass reliable program.
I need one that compresses the videos.

also fraps is just terrible.

Well, some games come with their own recording software, like Source Recorder
I don't rely on such things because most of my games don't have them.

I need one that compresses the videos, but can still record in HD.

It can't be something like CamStudio since that isn't made for games and records like stuff when using it for games.
