Before I buy a used game, I always ask "May I please see the disc before I buy it?". If they give it to me and it looks like it would run, I'd buy it.
If it looks able to run but laggy/ withgraphical errors/looks like it won't run at all, I don't buy it.
If they refuse to hand the disc over, or even hold it up for me to look at it, I don't buy it.
Although, I buy every PC game new, both because it's cheaper than used copies at local Gamestops/Craigslist/Ebay.com, and because my PC's disc drive locked up (I use STEAM)
