Clan Discussion / Spock's Clan Rant
« on: July 28, 2009, 12:33:52 PM »
Clans
Clans can be great. If you look at my clan, you see all characteristics you'd find in a clan you want to join.

- Hugely active
- Productive
- Friendly Environment
- Well-Rounded skills
- Skilled members

When I ask friends who come to our servers if they'd like to app, or friends I just see in other servers. Or people I just met that are pleasant and skilled, I get some of the same answers to why they don't join clans anymore.

- They were in a couple of poorly organized clans and decided to do away with clans entirely.
- They were in MotE or another prestigious clan. I'm not saying that's bad, I'm saying after you join MotE or USSR, which has skilled members and is well organized, how can you go back to the clan's of today?
- They don't like the drama of clans. I know this, I've been in BiT and Vony (Really bad mix) at the same time a while back. Also, there was that drama between Vony and TomCorp (iEvent now) when I was in TomCorp. It's a pain in the ass.

I really have to hand it to Randomguy, he got it right. This is the reason NWB is so popular. It's organized, skilled, friendly, the owner is experienced, and drama-free. It's what a building clan should be.

A long time ago, I made a huge clan thread guide on RTB

http://forum.returntoblockland.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72

If I really thought it would be effective here, I'd post it on these forums. But I really don't think it'd make a difference.

The reason I made The Craftsmen in the first place is because I wanted skilled players to be able to get together and make some really, really, really cool stuff. Think about it. Here are the characteristics of your average semi-successful clan today.

- Alot of members
- Semi-Popular owner
- Never makes any clan projects whatsoever.

It's true, you can look at ANY clan that isn't The Craftsmen or NWB (Sorry if I missed you) and see they never make anything at all. I mean clan projects. A computer that one member made does not count as a clan wide project, it's an individual's project. Now you might say "Spock, I don't see any projects made by The Craftsmen in the gallery.".
It's true we haven't finished anything, but we are most certainly busy. Ask any active member and they'll tell you we are working our asses off on Zombie Survival.

I'm sick of most clans these days. I've been in every semi-popular event clan to date (iEvent, Vony, Blockintosh, Microblock) and I can tell you that every single one of them has never made a clan-wide eventing project. Ever. Sure a member or two made a computer, but only on their own.

Drama / Spartan Warlord - "Spock is a cigarette"
« on: July 11, 2009, 11:00:50 AM »
Over the past month, I've grown a liking to going to Jirue's servers. Anyway, he had up a neat TDM. I went and played it. Shortly after I spawned, I managed to fly to the peak of a mountain and snipe about 5 people in about 30 seconds or so.

Spartan: Spock is a cigarette
Me: I love you too

So, by now everyone has gotten out of their base and started shooting at me. As I was on a roll and had an OSR, I took them all out, twice.

Spartan: Omg Spock is such a loving friend
Me: You're so nice, sweetcakes
Spartan: IM NOT GAY LIKE YOU
Me: You don't have to be, honey

I kept playing the TDM, and after killing him he gave some homophobic remark which I "lovingly" responded to. I eventually sniped him and his partner in their jeep literally above the flag return in midair because they decided to make a cinematic jump capture. This set off a bomb inside him, I guess.

Spartan: SPOCK YOUR SUCH A loving friend
Spock: I love you
Spartan: I'M NOT YOUR BOYFRIEND
Spock: (he's a little shy, guys)

Later on, I got killed by Meat Market several times.

Me: LEAVE ME ALOOONE (as a spoof to the "LEAVE BRITNEY ALOOONE" meme)
Me: But not you Spartan, I'd cry if you left me alone
Spartan: I HATE YOU

Also, he said something to the effect of "HAHA forget YOU" every time he killed me.
I lagged out and rejoined, and I was on his team. So, the idiot team kills me with a stunt buggy every chance he gets.

He's obviously a homophobic starfish that's either 40 and obese, living with his mom. Or 10 and disliked by everyone around him in real life.

Off Topic / Post a screenshot of your Desktop
« on: July 11, 2009, 12:05:58 AM »
Fun idea: Get people to post pictures of their desktop. I was inspired by the fact whenever I see somebody's desktop I always giggle at the filenames and applications.  :cookieMonster:

Anyway, here's mine. Notice the groovy elmo eye that follows my mouse. That's neat and you know it.

Rock Paper Scissors: Simple, right?

Wrong

I am working on the most advanced Evented game I have ever done. Wanna give it a whirl?

Roshambo: You play it, without the help of an admin.

My Roshambo Master will be 99.99% automated. The 0.01% percent? You. Pit your wits against your friends, foes, and people you don't even know in a battle of sheer luck, bluffs, and mainly luck.

How do I play?

Roshambo Master combines the never-ending fun and simplicity of Roshambo, with the thrill on online gaming. Playing is as easy a 1, 2, 3.

1. You put yourself on the waiting list as the next competitor for either Red or Blue. Once the current players finish, you will be whisked away into the unknown dimension of Roshambo Master, where you will choose your answer in my stylishly made corridors :D

2. Choose your answer. Then hit the lock button

3. Win. Or lose. Or tie.

When can I play this wonderful game?

Please post any comments, suggestions, or brain farts now.

It's done now, so here are some pictures:

The ever so helpful tutorial

The portal to the blue area

Placid, deciding his next answer

The inside of tutorial: It looks the same as the real ones, just different colors.

So, if you like it, swing by some time.

And this isnt one of those things where you think "Man that would use a billion events for me to do it, he found an easier way"
No, I used a billion events.

PLEASE NOTE: I have updated it a bit since I wrote this thread, however the only new features are:

Maintenance reset; Let's any player with 20+ Points (To show they've been around long enough to be fairly trustable) or admin Completely reset the game's engine, and respawn all players. Just incase some ass decides to do something then leave the server before the round is over.

AFK Box: Click the button next to Maintenance Reset, and you will be informed about the AFK Box. Click it again to be teleported into the box. The box holds you in it and out of the way until you say "Back". It also tells you to say "Back" when you're no longer AFK, incase somebody forgets.

Client Reset: If you feel the need to reset all variables in your client, for whatever reason, click this. It's more for people who don't understand what they did wrong somewhere, so instead of having to help them troubleshoot, I just say "Click this"

The CTF

Hay dere, it seems you have stumbled upon the latest works of Spock.

Perhaps you will be pleased of this accident.

The CTF is  a two team CTF composed of two mountains, two bases, and eight tunnels. And one real big river running in between. It is 100% built by me. I didn't even use duplicator, it crashes my computer for some reason.

I built it in about 6 hours, at my Grandma's.

Anyway, here's an overlook:

And here's a close-up of the river:

And here's a look inside a tunnel:

Here's a look at Red from Blue:

Here's a look at Blue from Red, in the dark:

And this is what it looks like from the bottom:

That's all, thanks for reading!

The History
The following is 100% fiction. Don't go running around telling about this kewl new story you heard, it's totally fake.

In 1995, the Chinese government invested two million dollars in a government-funded research project. The projects focus: to build a research facility in the Atlantic ocean, to research an endangered species of algae. The algae supposedly had the chemical properties needed to cure cancer. Three months prior to the buildings completion, the Chinese government just got news that an English research group, who's focus was a fish who ate the algae, released the fish in the area seven years ago. Thus, the algae was extinct, rendering the project useless. Though the project was almost done, so the Chinese government proceeded to finish it, in order to try to sell the facility.

The French CoastGaurd thought it was too small.
The Russian mafia thought it was to big.
The American resort industry didn't like the nearby pirate population.
The Japanese simply had no use for it.
The North Koreans wouldn't pay the offered price.

Thus, the facility is empty. It is used for fights and, every here and there, chess championships.

That's where you come in. You are globally known fighter, coming here to fight other globally known fighters. Thus making you globally known amongst other globally known fighters. Winning doesn't hurt, either.

Thanks for viewing! Feel free to rate 0/10.
This build took about 10 hours, and I'm quite proud of it. It uses 10,055 bricks.

NOTE: This is from my RTB thread, I just edited it a bit to fix it up for Retail. But it is mine, none-the-less.

Ok, so ever since JVS_DoorsPack2 came out, even though I got it, I had to re-download the colliding files for Manhole Cover and Vault door. Every time I joined a server, they had to be re-downloaded, which is a bummer. On top of that, JVS_Doors wouldn't register on my servers. It would be on my addons list, just not the server it's self. I just got JVS_Content and re-downloaded all of my JVS_Doors, but to no avail. So now, whenever I load

add-ons/JVS_DoorsPack2/shapes/contentrollingvaultdoorcolliding.dts I crash.

Is there some fix for this I don't know about? Perhaps one of you scripting folk can shed some light on it?
Anyway, I'd like to know if anybody else has the problem. I find it very interesting because I found the actual file that crashes me in my addons, so why does it have to re-download? I had this problem in v11, and it carried over to v12 as well.

Weird or what?

Drama / Psycho says: Craftsmen is a copy of [E], and [E] is better.
« on: June 23, 2009, 08:28:51 PM »
Note: I joined [E] about a week ago, as Master Eventer.

So, I went to Psycho's server and hung out. He was generally in a bad mood, impatient; resetting the minigame when he died, even if others were alive, f8ing, and so forth.

Later, Jirue came on. He was in a noticably good mood, so I said "JOIN MY CLAN", jokingly.

Psy: No, join [E], Jirue. It's better.
Me: Fine then, I quit [E]
Psy: I mean, Spock's doesn't have a clan page, and no clan tags.
Me: I have two, actually.
Psy: I do too
Me: And I won't do clan tags because I won't even wear them. (Also, my only options are TC, which is taken. CMen, which you have to say to understand it's refusal, and C, which looks dumb.)
Psy: Craftsmen is a copy of [E]
Me: How so?
Psy: Your clan events AND scripts, just like mine.
Me: We also model and build, yours doesn't
Psy: Your name is also about people who makes things
Me: So, you copied Creators of the Bricks, then?
Psy: I copied their name

He then made a function with eval called "rape();", and I'm handy enough with scripts to tell that the function deleted clients. His next step is obvious, but I had to leave before he could use it. Saved by the bell, eh?

Anyway, with his notion, I copied every clan that has ever focused on Building, Eventing, Modeling, or Scripting. Does that mean he copied YayFun and MicroBlock? I think not.

Drama / THE SOURCE OF 1.read this thread 2.??? 3. Profit
« on: January 05, 2009, 05:16:32 AM »
I knew and used this phrase many times before joining blockland. However, I got it straight from the source.
South Park!

If your thinking "orly?", Yarly
If your thinking "No wai!", Ya wai

It came from the underpants gnomes episode.

The original phrase is like so:

"Phase 1. Get underpants
Phase 2. ???
Phase 3. Profit"

Just to answer any questions you might have.
