Help / Portforwarding assistence

ok i dont mean to spread this topic all over but i would really like to host a server and every tutorial ive tried has failed, first off my "router" is a Westell which isnt on any list in the tutorials. and on some i get as far as when you need to put in a password and username...none work. I dont know what else to do but im sure there must be a way for anyone to host on blockland...please help
