My god, everyone in my family was telling me they thought hillary had too many palpatine vibes, but holy stuff.
We're not just looking at Hillary. This is a failed palace coup which implicates officials within multiple 3 letter agencies, the DNC, some members of the GOP #NeverAnnoying Orange coalition were likely involved, along with Obama's administration, Obama himself, and HRC.

I can't speak to the contents of the confidential FISA abuse memo, but given that the democrats unanimously voted against declassification of said memo, there is something BIG they want to hide from the public.

When all is said and done, those responsible will at the very least be jailed for all the perjury, treason, and sedition around the Russia investigation.

No one took that dossier seriously. It was clearly fake from the beginning and anyone who took it seriously at any point is genuinely handicapped.
The dossier is likely the basis on which FISA warrants were issued to wiretap members of the Annoying Orange campaign.

You're right, anyone that believes that the dossier is true is handicapped. This means that the Obama administration and FISA court have no plausible deniability. This was a witch hunt and a subversion of the electoral process and the Republic from day one once the primaries ended to try to install HRC as president.

- big snip -
Go read this post first, quoted for pageloss.

This Dossier testimony could tie into the memo about FISA abuses, which Congressmen that have seen it, claim it to be so disturbing and shocking that it must be immediately released to the public. The following is all speculative, but I believe it to be entirely reasonable speculation:

- The Clinton Campaign and the DNC used Perkins Coie as a "middle man" to pay Christopher Steele (and a bunch of his "Russian sources" for opposition research/the Dossier (as consistent with Simpson's testimony)

- The Dossier was given to the FBI by both Steele and McCain

- While the dossier is entirely unverifiable (admitted by Simpson again in his testimony to the HIC), the "potential for collusion" within was the basis on which the Obama administration went to obtain a FISA warrant

- The private citizens within the Annoying Orange campaign, including Annoying Orange himself, Manafort, all of his children, and likely many of his other associates were wiretapped on the basis of this FISA warrant obtained through the Fusion GPS dossier

- Members of Annoying Orange's family/campaign were illegally unmasked after being wiretapped, and presumably this information was passed on to HRC/the DNC somehow by the Obama Admin to give her every advantage she could have.

TL;DR: the Clinton Campaign/DNC pay for a dossier with all the credibility of a Annoying Orange fanfiction, bring it to the FBI along with NeverAnnoying Orangeer McCain, a FISA warrant for surveillance is obtained via the unverifiable dossier, and there is absolutely massive and de-jure illegal surveillance and unmasking of the Annoying Orange campaign using government resources.

I've been saying since day one that this dossier smells like bullstuff and a few of you around here were laughing at me. The house of cards is about to come down and the Obama admin/DNC are going to have A LOT to answer for.

If this is indeed what the confidential FISA abuse memo confirms, this makes Watergate look like peanuts.

The House Intel Committee released something of particular interest today. This is the transcript of the Fusion GPS (authors of the Russia Dossier) co-founder Glenn Simpson's testimony/interview with Trey Gowdy regarding the Russia Dossier.

Here are a couple of HUGE excerpts I was able to find while reading through it. (click for full size

This first excerpt is important because it establishes the precedent for the rest of the interview that Simpson knew definitively that the Perkins Coie law firm was in the employ of the DNC and by extension, the Clinton Campaign.

The second excerpt ties into the first, establishing that Simpson had billed the invoice for the writing of the Russia Dossier to Perkins Coie.

The implication here is that money flowed as such: Hillary/DNC -> Perkins Coie ->  Christopher Steele (author of dossier)

This absolutely raises enough suspicion that a subpoena for further bank records and testimony by all parties involved should be issued. The reasonable extrapolation that the DNC was using campaign funds to pay for opposition research based on information from questionable sources and of entirely unverifiable authenticity.

Here's where it gets good: Steele was paid to write the dossier on the supposed Russian connection, but he NEVER actually visited Russia during the investigative process. The excuse provided by Simpson is that Steele feared he would be arrested as a foreign spy if he did so.

Simpson claims that they assessed the credibility of Steele's sources thoroughly, and that his sources were hired to travel and talk to people. One can reasonably extrapolate then that these sources either were already within Russia or were hired to travel to Russia.

Simpson "hasn't found anything [stated in the dossier] to be wrong," but "... to this day, [Simpson] cannot tell," or as he amends, "doesn't have a strong opinion" on whether certain parts of the Dossier are true or false.

In other words, he says he has not found any verifiably false information in the Dossier, but he doesn't have an overwhelming faith in the accuracy of what he refers to as the more "controversial" parts.

The big TL;DR

  • The DNC paid for opposition research from Russian sources using campaign funds
  • Simpson and Fusion GPS knew that the firm that they invoiced for the payment of Steele for the Dossier was contracted with the DNC
  • Steele never actually visited Russia during the research process for the Dossier
  • While Simpson claims he has never found anything in the Dossier to be false, he cannot say that he has an inclination to believe the more "controversial" parts of the dossier (read: the parts the media has been freaking out about since the election) to be true more than false.

I'm excited to see where this will lead. I'm sure subpoenas will be issued because this could be huge.

I fail to see what would make the Star Spangled Banner tribal. It's amazing how people can whip themselves into a frenzy over absolutely nothing and vandalize/destroy things that don't belong to them.

Incredible how the word "tribal" among others has lost nearly all of its meaning and impact because of overuse in mudslinging.

Looking into it, this chart is specifically about defense spending as a percentage of GDP (not money paid to keep NATO afloat,) so obviously Iceland is N/A since they don't have a standing army and we're spending more on military than we need to. So..
I agree that the military spending is higher than it needs to be. I have high hopes for that audit currently ongoing to find out where $21 trillion in taxpayer money has disappeared to since 1990

I'm sure NATO is as much of a strategic advantage to Iceland as it is to the United States.
According to Iceland themselves, they're part of NATO in lieu of maintaining a standing army. Funny how even they admit that they're using NATO for protection while not paying the requisite dues.

NATO's total budget is $2 billion, of which we pay ~20%.
And how many countries are in NATO exactly? This is unacceptable.

28 countries in NATO which would stand to benefit from the defense pact and only 5 of them pay the agreed-upon amount of 2% of GDP.

It's absolutely ridiculous that these countries are able to reap the benefits of membership without paying what they are obligated (and agreed) to pay.

that would probably be more relevant if gdp was proportional to the need for military spending
It's entirely relevant because it's a fair method of comparative economic strength and military spending.

It's one thing to say "Oh but look at a country like Norway that only spends $6 billion annually on their military, why do we need to spend so much" and another to realize Norway has a GDP of 370 billion USD compared to 18.5 trillion USD for the United States.

Also Norway are NATO members not paying their dues, so their defense budget is being subsidized by those that do pay the dues picking up the slack.

And how much of our military spending goes into funding things like NATO and other overseas protection pacts?

When you compare military spending to GDP, the USA isn't even the biggest proportional spender. A lot of the money, however, disappears into the stuffty black hole of government corruption. A recent audit of the DoD found 39 Blackhawk helicopters that were not properly recorded in the Air Force Real Property System. That's huge. like $830,700,000 huge. For context, the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force currently has 41 Blackhawks in service.

To rephrase, the number of "missing" Blackhawks is only 2 less than all the Blackhawks in service by the JASDF.

This is loving huge and the audit must continue to expose just how much taxpayer money is getting pissed away by Congress and the Military. Before anyone misconstrues what I'm saying, I'm not taking any digs at the military in principle. I just think that in practice, there is a stuff ton of wasteful spending of taxpayer money jointly between Congress and the Military, and hopefully this audit will expose and prevent a lot of that in the future.

It could be interesting to have a debate which is more structured, or at least in an environment which could restrict a lot of the mudslinging and trolling that makes this thread unappealing. Perhaps a Discord server or something similar, because that would be easy to set up and limit access to block out/ban a lot of the problem users to facilitate a proper discussion without the unnecessary extracurriculars that go on in this thread.

he hardly posts these days tho
I don't post much lately for a few reasons. Chief among them is that I've been working and haven't had much time. The second reason, however, is that some of the most active users in this thread, regardless of what side of the political spectrum they fall on, aren't actually going to put any effort into their posts and aren't actively looking for a debate. I just would rather not engage in a lot of the stuff-flinging that goes on because it's a waste of time.
