I have no clue how many of these threads there are but I'd like to keep this one alive, just so that everyone can post tips for incoming users. Anyway,
Intro
So you've just bought a new game you saw on steam, or saw an ad for Blockland on some website maybe? Who cares, what matters is you've bought it, and now you're here. A quick summary of this game that I often use is "Garry's Mod with Legos." As a veteran of this game since 2008 I can say you've made a good choice, and although Blockland is, for the most part, self explanatory, there are a few things you should know first.
Things to know
The first thing you're going to want to do is to change your name. At this point your default name is "Blockhead (your BLID Number)", this can easily be changed by clicking the "Name" button on the bottom of your screen, simply type in your name and press enter (Your name must not be taken by another player). Now go into options. In the top right is a button the says "Player options." Here you can edit your in game avatar, set clan tags which will appear on either sides of your name in the chat, and set your LAN name, which will only be seen in LAN games. When you are done editing your player hit done and return to the options tab. Here you should edit your video settings to your computer's specifications, then click onto the advanced tab. The first thing you will see is some extra video options; if you scroll down you will reach GUI options. You should probably check on see BLID in player list, and turn off sensory of swears in chat. When you're done with that hit "okay" and play the tutorial.
