Started this account in 2013 after being perma. Was an alt of https://forum.blockland.us/index.php?action=profile;u=17565. Registered on May 10th, 2009, but I had been playing without a forums account for a couple of months before that.

"I'll probably just settle down. I don't really have anywhere else to go, since I can't go back home after what we did."

"I see," Ajka replies, "With any luck, we'll see each other again."

She pauses, wondering what to say next.

"I wish you luck," Ajka gleams, "Wherever you go."

She lies back in the bed, grinding her teeth and bottling down the pain of her bandages rubbing against her scorched and shredded skin. Ajka imagined her recuperation and reintegration into a Zentragoth at relative peace. It would take months, if not years of physical rehabilitation to repair her broken body if the searing pain she felt every time she moved was any indication. Still, her condition was not nearly as bad as some others, and she was grateful that with enough time and determination, she could heal well enough to live almost normally, even though she could never pilot a fighter again.

"Yeah.."

Ellie tilts her head to the side.

"So, what are you planning on doing after you get out?"

"Not sure," she mutters, "With the extent of my wounds, getting in the pilot's seat is verboten. I'll see if they have any need for an Aesthian translator in the armed forces- I'm sure there's a spot somewhere."

She closes her eyes for a moment and sighs in disappointment, regretful that her career was short and persistently marred with serious personal injury. Ajka was in the clinical ward and out of a fighter aircraft again, and for good this time. Locking away her tears and meeting Ellie with a surface expression full of stoic resolve, she returns the question. She opens her eyes and focuses back on Ellie.

"What are your post-war plans? I'm sure we've given you an opportunity to stay here for good, no?"

Ellie scratches her head.

"I don't really remember, but since he was our top scoring ace, he probably took one down at some point.."

"Why do you ask?"

Her eyes sharpen, and she focuses herself.

"He was infamous in our circles as a very dangerous pilot. I'm surprised he decided to fly into the carrier- it seems almost unreal for him to sacrifice himself for us, considering the dozens of us he shot down."

She relaxes back in the bed, giving out a deep sigh of relief.

"I'm glad he was on our side though. Without you Aesthians, it would've been impossible."

"..Well, we were able to take out the cruisers on our own, but Walt went in and crashed his craft into the carrier.."

Ellie trails off, pausing for a few seconds.

"The Ardea came in and finished it off before it could deploy any bombs, though Jaakko was able to take out the bridge by then."

"I see."

Ajka takes a moment, ruminating on the sacrifices of the Aesthian auxillary unit.

"I suppose Walt was the one who shot down the Sol, right?"

"That victory didn't come for free, but I guess you don't need anyone to tell you that." Ellie tenses up, crossing her arms and tightening her grip on her sleeves.

"..It's kind of hard to believe that only six of us made it."

She adjusts herself to get a better look at Ellie, trying her best to turn her body sideways.

"It's hard for me to believe," Ajka says, "The last thing I remembered was a missile on my tail. And then I woke up at a field hospital."

She goes over the events leading up to her last memory of that day.

"What happened there? I remember the remaining two carriers getting destroyed, but the two gunships and the flagship were mere moments away from impacting." She has an astonished look on her face, the full weight of what had happened slowly settling in. "How were we able to do it?"

Ellie takes a seat next to Ajka's bed.

"Hey Captain, I thought you were a goner there," she remarks, pulling her chair up a bit closer. "I'm glad you made it, though."

She turns over to face Ellie, grimacing as her muscles contract and slacken around the jagged pieces of metal in her back. She tries to put on a relaxed face, forcing out a faint smile, but the beads of sweat condensing on the un-bandaged parts of her face and her faint, weak voice give her true condition away.

"Thank you. And the rest of your unit."

She stops a little to catch her breath, wondering what to say next.

"At the end there, I didn't think we were going to be able to do it."

Ajka realizes she's out of radar-cm.

"Looks like this might be it. [Long live Zentragoth.]"

She fires her weapons at the starboard engine of the Odjur and evades the best she can afterwards.

Ellie breathes a sigh of relief as she hits her target and sees the cruisers going down.

"Captain, should we head for the carriers?"

Ajka's muscles slightly loosen after watching the bomber begin it's doomed descent to the ground.

"Thanks for the assist. And yes, we should head for the carriers."

She vectors her crippled airframe towards the remaining airships and starts to cruise towards them.

Ajka reels back as the massive shot-blast shreds her left wing, turning it into a gnarled mess of metal ribbons and fragments, sending jagged shards of metal and polymer into the side of her roosterpit. She recovers herself as best she can and tries to account for the loss in lift and control.

"Airframe heavily damaged, at this point it's more air than metal..." she lets out over the comms.

She aims for the right-side engine of the Vaduren and fires all her weapons at it.
