Also porting plugins apparently can be done by just changing a bit of code, how that is possible I have no idea.

Because extensions are coded in JavaScript. All you need to do is change the addon format and sometimes change browser-specific functions.

I personally just use lock screen album art remover (cause I find this feature annoying) and YouTube background playback.
