i read into this story a bit more and now im pretty sure this was intentional. i dont think he planned to get arrested but he was hoping to cause a stuffstorm at the school and then cry discrimination. honestly if I brought that to school i'd probably get arrested too. even so, you should be aware that things may seem different depending on your race. of course it's not right, but just like how people will be angry if a white dude says "brother" people might worry if an arab has a potential bomb. obviously one of those is worse than the other but we live in a world with racial prejudices and most people are aware of them and react accordingly.
but w/e. it actually makes me less angry. he played the system well and got a ton of free stuff.

it's discrimination even if it's an advantage. rather than reward the mistreated to "even it out" just punish those who discriminate and try to change their minds.
this "reward the victimized" system might even be OK if it worked on a mass level. but it doesn't. only when the media gets involved do companies take action
And how do you think companies and the community can remove the disadvantage in this situation? By ignoring this incident? Allowing the school and police to punish the kid? It has just as much to do with people wanting to encourage a young kids interest in science/technology as it does with supporting those who are being victimised because of the terrorist hysteria
it's this toxic idea that we need to offer special priviledges and positions to people who might have a disadvantage, rather than actually removing the disadvantage. it's like how a lot of colleges offer scholarships that are exclusively geared towards women or minorities. obviously this does not apply to physical or mental impairments like being blind or austistic.

honestly it irritates me that he gets invited to the white house and nasa offers him a job because he got arrested by some idiots
police officers arrest people for dumb reasons every single day. where are their twitter interships?
maybe we should hire people based on their actual skill and productivity rather than the fact that they had a bad thing happen to them that actually made their life better
i was detained by TSA because they mistook a snowglobe as a bomb. should i write to nasa? would it only be a news story if i was arab?
