Off Topic / Protest at Oklahoma Capitol
« on: April 09, 2018, 08:36:26 AM »
The Oklahoma Teachers Union has been on strike for two weeks now during negotiations with the Oklahoma Legislature. With no school, I headed down to join the teachers and students at the capitol. I'm alone atm in a crowd of hundreds of extremely hot teachers and students. Most people are marching outside the building, but I'm in a group inside the Senate that's going to meet with representatives (mine is Bridenstei) in about 15 minutes.

Games / Crusader Kings II is FREE right now (Permanent Copy)

Pick this game up guys. I've played it for hundreds of hours and it's one of the most memorable games I've ever played. The crazy situations you get into (like getting murdered by your kids and playing as them only to learn that you and everyone else in the court is secretly Jewish) can be pretty hilarious and it's a very RPG like strategy game (esp with Monks & Mystics adding artifacts).

DLC is intimidating but 99% are just aesthetic. If you really get into it the only ones you should really get are Horse Lords & The Old Gods, because Vikings & Mongols are extremely fun to play.

Fun fact: If your character has a low intelligence, their cat will "go to live with their aunt" instead of dying.
Also you can host Satanic murder orgies in this game.

really interesting how they said that they'd have to delay the launch 24 hours if they were even 1 second late to launch. it just shows the insane number of variable in something like this0
also weird how they said once they hit space they had to cut the stream bc of of the national atmospheric and oceanic administration's regulations.

It only has 45 views, but when YouTube autoplayed this video for me I found myself in a deep trance. This music is some of the most mesmerizing and incredible I have heard in years. "Spooky Max" as he goes by, despite having 125 subscribers, is clearly a talented musician. I would not be surprised to see some of these masterpieces topping the Top 100 charts.

Here's a good segment, but the entire album is a musical achievement.

Any tomb raider that is post core-design days is a bad Tomb Raider.
Eh, I've played all of them (except for the newest one). First game I ever played was Tomb Raider II. Big fan of the series. I can say that while they are NOTHING like the old games, the new ones are objectively better. Way better RPG systems than the old games and way less confusing level design.

Ever played Tomb Raider Chronicles? They literally stiched the enitire game together out of levels that were cut from other Tomb Raider games for being bad, lol. I don't know what they expected--the game sucked. Also it came out on my birthday.

>Passes the beer to a white lady rather than the black male

tribal! The ad creators must think blacks are below white people!
The reason it's funny is because it passed several black people before a white woman opens it. That already might raise eyebrows but the text "lighter is better!" appearing really makes it hilarious.

Lmao I was like "there's nothing wrong with that phrase" but within the context of the video it's hilarious. They literally slide it  past a series of different black people before it arrives at the white. As she gleefully picks it up the text declares "Lighter is better."

Like, even if it's a coincidence, that is so obviously a terrible idea. It's not offensive, it's just ridiculously stupid. How did anyone greenlight this ad? This is 10x worse than the stupid "White is pure" ads or the "Coolest monkey in the jungle" stuff that actually got several stores attacked in South Africa.

I could have sworn that Uwe Boll made a Tomb Raider film
He directed the garbage Far Cry movie that nobody talks about.

What's it rated and is it on netflix? (for both.)
90% sure one of those tomb raider films is on netflix but I could be wrong.
The first two from the early 2000s are garbage, don't watch them. The new one hit theatres recently so it won't be on Netflix for a while. It's got a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes (probably biased due to the fact that it's a video game film) and a 6.8 on IMDB, which seems fair. Facebook reviews give it an 9/10... but I've never even heard of Facebook reviews, so...

I experimented with other weapon packs, but none have the right feel and have other problems (like the fact that they don't hit instantly, allowing for you to 'dodge' bullets). I think the reason a lot of people dislike Complex Weapons is because magazines are stored in the inventory--but that was the entire point of the scavenging aspect. You can carry a limited amount of supplies. Another one is that they are tricky to use and take a few seconds of solid concentration to reload--allowing you to slip up majorly in combat--which some players find frustrating. Personally I find it creates really incredible tension when plays have to start manually reloading weapons mid-firefight.

I think I'm gonna add a melee system so someone who runs out of ammo mid-combat isn't necessarily doomed.
