Ask me anything. I was a security guard at Gary airport. Where all of the planes take off and stuff. Yet again, I'm can't say everything because...common sense really.

Off Topic / I just missed my Captain's Best Friend's funeral
« on: August 18, 2016, 04:43:00 PM »
Well, my Captain's (from Civil Air Patrol) best friend died in a motorcycle accident and he had a chance at living if he wore a helmet. My Captain requested a handful of cadets to go with him this Thursday with their Blues uniform. I was one of the first people to respond to his email. We had to be at one of the middle schools by 4:00 PM (which isn't that that far). Turns out, my High School got out at 3:25 PM. My mom and dad had work so no luck with that. So after school, in one hand, I had a bag of my shoes, socks, and belt and in the other I had an umbrella (since it rained pretty hard this morning). Don't forget the fact that I have about tons of stuff to bring back home in my backpack. I was peddling my bicycle to its death to get there on time.

Once I got there, I hopped into the bathroom, started changing, and realized; I FORGOT MY DAMN WHITE T-SHIRT. I do have a tendency to forget things often, but this sucked. In the morning, I was rustling with time to get ready for school, to get ready for the school days AFTER that (since I'm in Honors, we have HW everyday), AND to get ready for the service. I was super occupied yesterday with a meeting, so I didn't have a chance. There was no way I was going to be able to go back home to get the t-shirt and get back to the school. I could've rode my bike to the funeral home, but when I looked at the time, it was too late. I had to wear a white t-shirt because it's in the uniform regulations (not doing so is pretty bad) and I had to have a complete uniform. So I told him I couldn't participate, but he wasn't pissed at me (phew), but I feel super bad about it.

So yeah, just a lesson. Just make sure to double check your things before you're ready to go.

So I was just shooting some guys in R6: Siege when my sister called me to watch a movie with her. At first, when I saw the title, The Little Prince, I could care less. Though, I watched it anyway. After finishing it, holy crap(!), it was amazing. I cried about 3 times while watching this film. After finishing it, I went and did research and it just released 10 days ago. It's a freaking crime that this wasn't released in theaters. Turned out Paramount dropped it one week before release back in March. Then Netflix picked it up. The animation was beautiful, the music was fantastic (done by my man Hans Zimmer), the voice acting was top-notch, the ending is left open (in a good way), and the characters were great.

It's not a perfect 10/10 since a few parts are predictable, but nonetheless, the pros triumph the "cons" in this film. If you haven't watched it, watch it now. It's worth paying the $12 for Netflix to see this movie. I'm now looking into seeing if I could get the The Little Prince book.

Games / Is it too late to get into Destiny?
« on: August 15, 2016, 01:01:44 PM »
I heard Destiny getting mixed reviews at launch and I pretty much just stayed away from it. Last year, when the Taken King came out, it peaked me interest, but I still didn't buy the game. Now, the RISE OF IRON expansion is releasing in about a month. I just want to say should I blow some $60 on the Destiny Collector's Edition (base game and all expansions/DLC)? I'm kind of second guessing because I hear rumors Destiny 2 is coming out next year and I'll rather wait for that.

General Discussion / Small Project Idea
« on: August 10, 2016, 02:27:36 PM »
So, I'm getting bored and I want to do something in Blockland. Off of that, I also got one week (from today) left until school starts back up. Building phase should be finished by October and roleplaying phase should be fully finished by November/December if all players participate.

So basically, the premise is that I'm making a "Roleplay" that is completely story-driven based (no make up crap) that is set in the modern world. The catch is that players who have officially registered (I'll get into that in a moment) will be completely axed off from the story if they die. This means that every action a player makes will be vital to how the story unfolds. Now, you may be thinking "wut how". That's exactly what I thought when it popped in my head.

To make this work, I will make a passworded server (might change, but it's so no randoms will come in and screw everything up). You will first have to go to a forum topic I will make (in the future) and register your character's name, bio, and personality. That topic is where all of the action happens. Think of it as a HUB. I will update it with story details, who died and who didn't, the setting right now, and then there will be a discussion on what the community thinks should happen next. This all happens in "chapters". I will plan on hosting a "chapter" of the story every week so that there is plenty of time to flesh out and catch up. I want this to be a roleplay in which it has an end. Not a roleplay in which it's dragged along its knees while being beaten to the pulp over and over and over.

I'm currently writing the story right now, finishing up Ch. 1. (I got an award for my book project last school year so I'm pretty sure you guys will like my story :]). If you want to add or change anything in the story, go ahead. I will upload story details next week. If you would like to give me ideas, please consider doing so. I need all the help I can get.

EDIT: fixed context that messed up the premise of this

Forum Games / Rio Olympics 2016 Bingo Game - Opening Ceremony
« on: August 05, 2016, 07:46:11 PM »
The directions are simple. Use the picture provided and fill in the spaces. All you have to is slog through a commercial-filled Olympics showcase (if you're watching on NBC lul) and spot any of the situations that happen in the Olympics and fill in that respective space. First person to fill it out with 100% correct proof wins and will be titled "Bingo Master of the Rio Olympics".

Apologies for being almost 2 hours late.

Having little to no experience creating a MegaThread, I had to dig a little deeper into the sand to complete this. Considering the fact that AtlasBlue's and Swat 3's MegaThread went dead almost 2 years ago, I wanted to continue that MegaThread, with newer information and make it more fluid. Since his logo on his MegaThread looked incredible, I decided to borrow that logo for the time being.

What is No Man's Sky?

No Man's Sky is an upcoming game made by Hello Games--consisting of a final team with 13 members on the game--which started development in 2011. Arriving to Playstation on August 9th (US)/August 10th (EU) and Steam on August 12th worldwide. No Man's Sky is set in a UNIVERSE of limitless procedurally generated worlds. Every planet is different, filled with either no life, simple life, or complex life itself. Each planet is one biome (varied greatly) each, making exploring other planets viable. You take on a "humanoid" exploring the universe. The core objective of this game is to get to the center of galaxies and then the universe. However, you don't have to get to the center of the universe to enjoy the game. Fight, trade, explore, salvage, or destroy; the choice is yours in No Man's Sky. Survival is a core aspect of No Man's Sky--even though you won't need to eat food--in the dangerous worlds you travel on.

Survival? What about it?

Survival in No Man's Sky is one of the key aspects to completing the main goal. Whether you're in the outer rim of a galaxy or nearing the center of the universe, surviving and breathing is vastly important. The dire consequences of dying is not so punishing, but it does fiddle with your overall goal. Getting to the universe, you're going to need a hyperdrive, however, if you don't have one, consider your chances on making it slim.

IF YOU DIE ON FOOT = You will lose any discoveries not saved and you will respawn to your last saved game in a base on the planet.

IF YOU DIE IN ORBIT = You will lose any discoveries not saved and you will respawn on the surface of the planet you were in with a crashed ship that you need to repair.

IF YOU DIE IN SPACE = You will lose any discoveries not saved and you will lose your entire ship. If your ship was higher-tiered with a hyperdrive, you will lose that too. Your ship will be replaced with a basic ship and you will respawn to the nearest base in space.

Hostile enemies are present in No Man's Sky. Though, not all creatures are hostile. Every single creature is generated randomly. Their calls/voices are procedurally generated, too! The devs used a special program to generate a sound for the wildlife, based on their neck's shape and length, each creature is different, vocally AND physically! The ones you will encounter when you do some bad stuff are The Sentinels. Sentinels are robot-like creatures that are basically "The Guardians of the Galaxy" (no reference intended). Think of the Sentinels as "the law". As shown in videos, it seems like breaking into bases, killing livestock, and other creatures will activate these Sentinels. The best choice it seems to be is to RUN. Once you see a Sentinel attack you, it's best to get off the planet ASAP. Sentinels all over the planet will hunt you down and they come in all sizes. It's best to evade them than to fight them. Weather plays an important role in No Man's Sky. Cold weather, hot weather, radiation, and toxic levels will kill you if not taken with caution. Acid rain, extreme blizzards, and more can happen and it can be deadly.

Confirmed Game Mechanics

Trading - Collect various resources from planets and trade with alien NPCs! The Galactic Trade Market varies based on what system you are in and what alien NPCs you speak to!

Scanning - Scan animals and locations to add them to your discoveries! You can also scan systems to see if they have been discovered by other players! Be warned; anything discovered not saved when you die or quit the game are lost!

Warping and Ship Boosting - If you got a hyperdrive, you can warp to a planet in close proximity! However, use it wisely as getting it fueled up is tough business! Don't have a hyperdrive yet? No worries. Use PULSE ENERGY to boost your way crazily fast through the universe! You can also do regular boosting if you don't have fuel...

Upgrades - Collect items (resources, elements, etc) and use them to upgrade your suit, weapons, and ship!

Crafting - Collect elements and use them to craft materials for your weapons, suit, and ship! It's not robust, but it's something to take notice to!

Battles - Itching for something to pull your trigger at? No worries. You can shoot anything that moves. Death to all! Though, you might need a little help to do so! Pirates will attack you in space based on your cargo, huge battles are present throughout the universe, and you're in the middle of it![/center]

Weather - From deadly storms to radiation and toxic levels, these are the many dangers that await you.

Multiplayer - You can find other players...well...your chance of finding others is less than 1%. Seeing other players seem to not work when the servers are full! Though, you can see what other players have found!

Companions - Make friends throughout the universe to help you look for items, have them protect you, or just have them aid you in your overall travels!

and a lot more will be added such as Base Building and owning Cargo Freighters! The first update adds a lot of stuff!

Mutiplayer? Where is it?

After Hello Games managed to bypass No Man's Sky by Sony's Playstation Plus subscription service, you probably have been wondering if the game is truly multiplayer. That answer is YES, the game does INDEED support multiplayer! Well sort of...unfortunately. It is definitely possible to encounter other players in the universe. However, considering the fact that the sheer size of this game is, that's unlikely! You can encounter other players playing the game, but it's less than 1% you will likely so! Don't get so down! You will be able to see other planets that other players have discovered and named. However, considering the fact that there is a whopping 18 QUINTILLION REAL-LIFE SIZED PLANETS , that is also unlikely. Fortunately, the developers have confirmed that you will be able to see your friends on the star map, but they might be pretty...far...away. The developers want this game toe feel like you're in a huge universe by "yourself" as in, an actual player. It's extremely tough to know if you encountered a player since they are not marked. So, yes, it's multiplayer, but not really. Two streamers attempted to meet up with each other in the same system and has come to conclude no multiplayer is in the game! Therefore, the only multiplayer features in No Man's Sky is the ability to upload your discoveries and see who discovered a system/planet. Perhaps, multiplayer will be added after Sean talked about probably adding in requested features? Sean has commented on the issue, saying that the servers were overloaded, perhaps we will see another time again?

Review Roundup

Blockland Forums

Approximately 53 people participated in the Review poll for No Man's Sky. With a percentage of 71.7%: 38 people voted the game was either average or below. With a percentage of 28.3%: 15 people voted the game was either decent or above.

Critics and Users from external sites/programs

The game has received quite a few reviews. So far for all of the reviews, the game has been titled "good" with annoyances. Annoyances such as inventory management, mediocre shooting mechanics, not a lot of variety, and dull NPCs. That's what I can recall from every review. On PC, the issues are more on performance than the actual game.

General Discussion / Ideas for new server games?
« on: July 26, 2016, 08:09:19 PM »
After reading through this this thread, I just wanted to see what the community has in mind to try to keep the Blockland community afloat (which is probably unlikely since everyone is usually on the forums). I was thinking about making (and finishing) a server that represents Military Combat Scenarios. What are your ideas?

Off Topic / I've just came back from a 7-day encampment AMA
« on: July 09, 2016, 11:45:30 AM »
I just came back from a 7-day encampment in Indiana near Tailorsville, in which it was a military-like (but age-appropriate) simulation of living in a military base. My family paid about $160 for registration and about $80 for supplies. My flight (group for you clueless guys) were part of 7 other flights. To pass, you had to obtain an 80% or higher with PT (Physical Training), Drill, Inspections, and Classes. Ask me anything.

I don't know what happened, but I was just browsing Reddit listening to DuckTales Remastered  when my sister came in my room and showed me a video in which some guy said while laughing "I masturbate to your photos, bro". I don't even USE Instagram. It might be a joke, but...

WTF

Games / Friday the 13th: The Game E3 2016 Gameplay
« on: June 13, 2016, 08:21:02 AM »
It seems like no one posted this, but I'm going to right now, I guess. This game has been in development for about a year by a small indie group named Gun Media. Funded by Kickstarter, this game is set to release in October on Steam (PC), PS4, and Xbox One; with a beta for the backers in August. This trailer is only Early Alpha gameplay, STAGED gameplay, obviously. Closer to release, I will (or someone else will) get a megathread fired up.
