Learn to read before you buy games.

the problem is in the should, as in "Why should i spend 30 bucks to get this alpha?"

because anything in that answer is subject to the game's near non-functionality.

so when they say "You should get this alpha because our game has blah and blah and it's gonna have blah and blah", and then you are convinced to purchase the alpha due to their reasoning, and then it's garbage, that's where it's messed up

Except that now when there's injustice people flip a stuff and try to make it right immediately. One few things I like about social media culture.

well the problem is most people don't really do anything to help it, cus they can get all of those cuddly feelings of being morally awesome by posting on FB or twitter and getting likes and retweets. back then you had to go do something.
