Off Topic / Re: my computer's fan sounds like stuff
« on: April 21, 2014, 10:30:07 PM »
It gets loud a lot. I don't have some canned air laying around. What can I do?
its not the hard drive, i'm positive, because it makes a whoosh sound after it gets loud
Does the fan make a growling noise? If so, it means the bearing is worn out (and it's usually a cheap Chinese fan). Or does it just push a lot of air?
Also is the fan in your power supply?

i cant use admin_gui plus and all my add-ons wont work
Look for syntax errors in your 'ADD_ON_LIST.cs' file. Start up the BL server and look at the remote console output. It will print a syntax error if there is one. Remember, if a modder names their add-on incorrectly, it is their fault for being an idiot; it's not a problem with HammerHost

and my music has .oggogoogogogoog at the end of them now
This was an old bug 1 week ago which only existed for a few hours. Delete your .ogg files and re-upload them (with FTP).

I'm the cookie monster!

You seriously need to lock this topic before everybody starts flaming you.

I thought I already responded to your PM.
Anyway, I ran python.exe and pressed Ctrl + C. It did not exit, but printed "keyboardInterrupt" or something, then asked for more input.

771
Also yes he does
My hardware is certainly not designed from the ground up to be used in servers. Most of it is overclocked, and there are 2 video cards connected (Radeon R9 270's), one with a powered riser, which mine scrypto-coins nonstop. It's in an open computer case cut with a hacksaw, and the whole build is designed more for mining than hosting.
But none of it has actually failed except for the fan one time.

However, the whole CPU fan failure is just as likely to happen in a tower server (if it's not in a datacenter).

The ISP responded just now. They said that the network downtimes are their fault because they are testing equipment. So...
It's not a DoS.
Verizon also said to call again if there are more outages after 5:00 PM EST. I am expecting more, though.

The whole point of having public pingdom monitoring is for transparency of service quality. If you're going to get a new pingdom account every time you have issues just to reset the downtime percentage it's completely pointless.
That's not true. I originally used HTTP as the check type, but I now wanted ICMP. Pingdom does not let you modify the type of check unless you create a new one.
The old link still works and collects data.

774
So is the service still alive or not?

I have no idea what is going on.
What happened was that the CPU was not fried. Whenever a shutdown from a CPU overheat happens, a lot of MSI AMD 900 chipset motherboards require a few minutes of being off. Then you can insert the CPU back in, and it will work again if it's not damaged.
I also did a 4-hour torture stress test (Prime 95) to see if there was any damage, and there was absolutely none (plus the temp. still always was below 40° C).

So 10 hours after the failure, HammerHost was back in business again.
Unfortunately, over the past 3-4 days, the network outages from 1 week ago came back.

i think it would be for the best if hamer closed the service until he can get the problems fixed up completely
90% uptime is better than no uptime at all.

You should have crossed out the line starting with "<a href". Posting a link to adult content without censoring it can lead to a ban.
So I suggest you delete the photos from your image host.

Oh no I've lost my jets and fuel tank. Can't escape from the approaching singularity!

778
What. That could mean anything. It could even mean your isp can't handle that many players.
I have 25 Mbps upload (which usually is 30+); of course I can easily handle 40 players.

if you really want to help in the fight for justice, just kill as many whites as you can lol.

I know tons of successful attorneys who are caribou (did I mention that they are Jewish too?).
Do they all live in Canada? What about reindeers?

Off Topic / Re: Internet is tanking; what do
« on: April 20, 2014, 07:24:07 PM »
I have just as many complaints about Verizon as the rest of you. I use a business connection for my hosting service, and here is the uptime log:
http://stats.pingdom.com/iikd1ccs9qqh/978128
http://stats.pingdom.com/iikd1ccs9qqh/978128/2014/04 (the downtime starts from April 12).

Of course some of that is my fault, but the ISP probably didn't even manage to provide 85% uptime over the past week. And this is on a business-grade FiOS plan (50 / 25).
