Description

Assetto Corsa is a racing simulation game made by Kunos Simulazioni, an Italian game developer. The game is designed to be moddable and is focused on realistic simulation. Current pricing for the game is USD$39.99 or your regional equivalent.

Games / Obduction, a new game from Cyan Worlds (creators of MYST).
« on: October 18, 2013, 05:20:49 PM »
http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/10/18/myst-dev-cyan-announces-obduction-a-new-first-person-adventure-game/

The premise of the game is that you're abducted by aliens and left on their planet to find out why you're there, and furthermore, where you are.

Quote from:  the Kickstarter page.
Obduction is an all-new, real-time, first-person adventure that harkens back to the spirit of Cyan’s earlier games Myst and Riven. Obduction resurrects that incredible feeling of suddenly finding yourself in the middle of a new world to explore, discover, solve, and become part of.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of Myst, one of the best-selling computer games in history. The Myst name is widely recognized as uniquely defining a new kind of gaming - amazingly immersive worlds where the point is to understand your environment rather than test your reflexes. The Obduction project will take what Cyan knows about creating deeply immersive worlds and apply it to an entirely new game with fantastic scenery, incredible architecture, compelling story, and exceptional challenges.

They're crowdfunding it on Kickstarter, with their goal set at $1.1M USD with only 28 days left. Go back it here if you like MYST and want to see something like it.

Read about it here.

Why Disney believes Avatar fits into an African safari theme, I don't know. Apparently, Disney plans on having floating mountains and the flying animals (banshees or whatever) from the James Cameron movie. How they're going to complete the expansion in 4 years is beyond me, but Disney has surprised me before.

Read it and weep about how we'll never have HL3.

We should know better by know. I know this was very convincing but I don't even know why people do this anymore. It's not funny and it's loving annoying.

Games / SUPERHOT - Time moves only when you move.

Superhot is a first person shooter game that is an interesting take on time deceleration. You often start levels defenseless and must maneuver to the nearest weapon or take one from an enemy while dodging a hail of bullets. There's one catch: time only moves when you do.

"Well, yeah. That makes it easier, right?"

No. It's much more difficult than you might think.

Superhot is on Steam Greenlight! Here is the game's Greenlight trailer, prominently displaying the most pivotal game mechanic, and here is the game's Greenlight page. Vote for it!

We're flying the Airbus A321 from JFK in New York to San Francisco International in Flight Simulator X until we either get there or we give up. Expect shenanigans and more. Special guest JazZ5109AI commentates.

Forum Games / Flight to Nowhere - A text adventure.
« on: August 22, 2013, 08:08:17 PM »
You awake with a start. You are reluctant to open your eyes, but manage to do so without any difficulty. As your eyes open, light streams in from above and in front of you is a wall. The pattern on the wall is very plain, consisting of small lines 'criss-crossing' each other, the entire wall colored a light cream color. The very simple pattern is soothing, and nearly puts you back to sleep, but you force your eyes to stay open.

As you look up, light streams into your retinas with increasing intensity, but your eyes quickly adjust. You quickly realize you are staring directly into a light panel. Lowering your gaze and looking to your right, you see a mirror with a counter right below it. As you begin to look to your left, you catch a small glimpse of silver on the wall. It is only slightly tarnished, but you still can't make out what it says.

What do you do?

[note: i'm debating making art for this. perhaps it'd be easier to visualize things, but i don't know yet.]

Games / Come July 1, 2014, all GFWL servers will be shut down.
« on: August 19, 2013, 07:48:15 PM »
This image shows the notice on the AoEO knowledge base page before it was subsequently taken down.

Unless game developers are willing to patch the netcode and move games to Steamworks, a large amount of games will be without multiplayer functionality and achievement tracking. The only games that have been confirmed to be transferred to Steamworks sometime in the near future are Bioshock 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Arkham City. Arkham Origins has removed all GFWL support and will be released on Steamworks.

Some other games affected include Dark Souls, GTA4, Fallout 3, Dead Rising 2, DiRT 2 and 3, and Bulletstorm. This has been a long time coming, so I'm honestly not surprised. I'm honestly worried about GTA4 online functionality, although Steamworks patching seems unlikely due to the time since the last patch (3 and a half years).

GFWL is stuff, but will GTAIV be okay?

Off Topic / The Pronunciation Book '77 Days' ARG
« on: August 08, 2013, 01:55:16 PM »
About a month back, the YouTube channel Pronunciation Book uploaded a cryptic, 19 second video simply stating that something would happen in 77 days, September 24th. The statement was followed shortly by soft, clicking noises interspersed with periods of silence.

Since July 9, the channel has uploaded a video every day, each stating how many days are left and a cryptic statement. Number 47 was uploaded today at 10 AM Pacific time, as have all the videos. Since the first video was uploaded, the descriptions of a large amount of videos on the channel have been edited, adding a link to a video on how to ask for help in English. On July 10, number 76 stated that the creator of Pronunciation Book has been attempting to tell the viewer something for 1183 days.

A large amount of people have speculated that these videos have some correlation with the announcement of details regarding Bungie's game Destiny, or a date referenced in the Book of Revelations. Whatever it is, I know this forum has a history of attempting to solve ARGs in the past.

Here's a wiki for the ARG. Discuss.

I recently lost access to the email I originally registered to Blockland with, and I was wondering how I could transfer any key retrieval requests from that email to another one.
