Defib-Master. I will display his stats here:
77 kills, 5 deaths, 10,005 score.I encountered this guy aimbotting while playing on a Reddit server last night. He was not only pissing off my team, but the other team as well; he was consistently switching teams throughout the match. After an excruciating 45 minutes of hearing the whole server complain, I politely asked him to leave. Surprisingly, he did so. This changes nothing, though.
I covered the basis of this rant last night on the server. The moderation of these servers is the responsibility of (a) PunkBuster, or (b) the server admin. Unfortunately, neither of these two things
actually does its loving job.
PunkBuster is practically broken. The mere fact it is letting players like Defib-Master under its radar is not only exasperating, but
absolutely stupid. With all my experiences with PunkBuster, not only on Battlefield, but on other games, it has NEVER worked against hackers. It is full of flaws which I will list here:
- It will kick you if you are not running Windows with administrative accounts.
- It will indiscriminately scan your system, and leave a potential hacker's system unscanned and untouched.
- When it scans your system, it scans your virtual memory. If you are talking in Skype or IRC or something, and post a line of code that PunkBuster finds is malicious, it will ban you or kick you.
Now I'm going to whine about the server admins. I'm a bit looser on this subject. I can understand an admin can't always be available. I can understand servers utilize auto-admin software instead of humans who have lives and needs.
But make sure the auto-admin WORKS.
I swear, auto-admin often bans the wrong people on some servers, or like PunkBuster, does not work (note: most of the time, auto-admin works properly). Some servers don't even have auto-admin, or an admin at all. That is the case with Defib-Master.
The problem isn't that the server doesn't have moderation. You can just report the person and move on. The problem is that if you don't have somebody to take care of the server, you will lose player traffic and the hacker will not only have done his job, but you will also be gaining a bad reputation. Your server may be known as the server "without an admin" and "the server that harbors a lot of hackers".
I've made my point. Now, onto the hacker itself.
These hackers have ridiculous motives and often accuse others of hacking, like regular hackers do.
This guy, Defib-Master, insisted last night before he left that everybody complain to EA because they aren't taking care of their problem. Their problem isn't the hackers, it's PunkBuster. EA is stuff anyway, but EA and DICE should not have to babysit every goddamn server to get rid of hackers. Like I said, that is the job of PunkBuster or the server admins.
I rest my case. Discuss.
