have you considered evacuating
impossible at this point. i would have personally liked to, but i didn't find out i'd be out of school till wednesday mid-day and my parents really didn't want to leave. a lot of people i know left — many ran to atlanta, but one guy ran to NY and another went to montreal to stay with family.
the issue with evacuation from an area is like this is that density has massively increased since andrew; florida added about 8 million people to its population in the 25 year span between 1992 and now, and about 2.1 million (estimated) are evacuating either under mandatory order or voluntarily. we're really scrounging for gas down here, and a lot of people i know that chose to evacuate now are stuck on i-75 or i-95 somewhere in the middle of the state in bumper to bumper traffic.
it's kind of a mess.
