I've had the idea of making music for quite some time. I just don't know how to start, nor do I know of any good programs.

try fl studio/ableton ($100-$900) if you're rich or auxy ($5 a month for "premium," ie more sounds to use) if you arent, even audacity "works" as well as beepbox if you want chiptune
auxy needs an ios device though, maybe use reaper if you aren't sure if you want to spend money but still want something along the lines of fl studio/ableton

idk how to start either, maybe with remixes?
you could also try to make vaporwave or future funk - just sample another song from the 80s, add a new beat, restructure it to your liking, and add some filters. could even do it in audacity if you had the patience. it's just a glorified remix.
