i think i could be on to something but upon further brown townysis it may be stupid and, in fact, not real at all. STILL:
basically, dril had a somethingawful account under the name of "gigantic drill" and his flags are all collected on this little webpage. reverse image searching one of said flags shows that the flag is used on this strange blog, which would mean that dril's name is Cameron Townsend. a little far-fetched, but the image, which does not seem to be used anywhere but the archive, that blog, dril's page on know your meme, and an imgur account that im pretty sure is a little nsfw and only "in-character" for dril a little bit. however both accounts seem to have something for women's rights so ???
what do you guys think? despite the fact that the stuff i've found only has a small chance of being the real deal, do you think we can find out who it is? and for that matter, would we even want to? would that ruin the magic? is it an invasion of privacy? it is a mystery
facts about dril:
"Following the revelation of the owner of the Horse_ebooks Twitter handle being Buzzfeed employee Jacob Bakkila on September 24th, 2013, Bakkila claimed to know the identity behind dril. Bakkila shared that he was hired by dril in the past for a project, that dril was possibly a graphic designer and lived in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut)."
"However, all evidence points to the fact that it is operated by an animator and illustrator from New Jersey, as supported by his personal website at wint.co:
"27 year old man currently living in NJ. known for producing absolutely reprehensible content including animation, illustration, and hellish twitter updates for over a decade now. I also built this very good website "
it's basically well known that he lives in new jersey and that he is a graphic designer. he's also a normal-ish guy outside of the account.
"Bakkila also connected Buzzfeed to dril where they got him to participate in an oral history of Weird Twitter accounts, in which dril attempted to dispel various myths surrounding the account."
