Men assuming a "feminine" role, such as being the abused rather than the abuser in rape or in any abusive relationship, is seen as "wrong" because they're not fitting what society expects of men, i.e., to be masculine. The patriarchy needs to be taken down because the idea that masculinity dominates over femininity is exactly what's causing this shame towards men's issues.

oh yeah because very little custody, bodily autonomy, parental rights, workplace deaths, male disposability, catasrophically high Self Delete rates, 0 male shelters, majority of homelessness, and the large gender bias in america's schools are things solved by taking down the patriarchy.

But men are affected by the patriarchy and most feminists I know (which is practically everyone i know) believe this??? I don't think either group is a priority over each other, either, but I think women's issues are more prevalent in volume, while men's issues are more often undermined and ignored. Both deserve treatment and they stem from a patriarchy, which is why I'm sticking to being feminist.

I still think you're too attached to the sjw re-imagining of feminism and it'll be nearly impossible to persuade you otherwise.

i don't know how many time's i have to tell you it is far from just a """"tumblr brand"""" of feminism, that's just another way of dodging responsibility.

please explain how a system that apparently keeps men in power also negatively effects them, and the "patriarchy" needs to be taken down instead of men's problems. there's a reason that the only people who believe this are feminists.

I believe men are affected by a patriarchy (and would do anything in my power to help! I'd love to build a shelter for men in abusive relationships or ban circumcision! And I'm a feminist!), but MRAs believe there's a matriarchy, anyway. That's why they'll always be wrong in their ideals, but not their goals.

the "men are affected by patriarchy" is just another way for feminists to say "well guys face problems but really it just goes back to women being the priority"
how about we tackle the problems instead of just grouping them with female problems and drawing significance from them?

What's common isn't what's shown by the media. People have said this to you often, but I guess you don't quite get it.

What feminism is doing is either considered a joke by most people or is shown to be incredibly radical, and I won't deny or argue against that. You can believe in a movement without having to agree with everything that goes on. I personally feel that feminists who attack male rape victims and the like are hypocrites, but DrenDran will whine and say that's a No True Scotsman logic fallacy or some stuff, but who gives a stuff.

honestly every time they come out with a new political campaign it harms more than it does good. and there have been at least 2 big campaigns this year. you would really want to defend that movement instead of the ones actually after equality? the only reason the mrm exists is because they talk about the stuff feminists refuse to.

lol try male victims of rape and domestic violence, and i'm sure i told you about them shutting the only male shelter in canada down? that time they defended a woman who blatantly raped a young boy?

i know every movement has done radical things, but when it is a common occurrence and the members of the movement refuse to accept that their movement did that, it becomes a problem.

If you see the empowerment of feminity as a threat then I'm worried. A fist symbolizes strength. Strength can hurt, sure, but I don't see it in that way. Make of it what you will. Maybe I have some androphobia inside of me and I just want to murder everyone with a snake.

if they claim to be feminists and try to make women better than men and are pretty much man haters, they aren't really feminists

you can't just see a bad feminist and say "well they dont make us look good so they arent REAL feminists"

and also i am not just talking about tumblr feminists, the majority of big feminist groups are the 'tumblr' kind of feminist. i mean there's a feminist group trying to shut down female prisons for god's sake they are not helping anyone

I get what you guys are saying with the symbol change, but I do like the fist. I think it's important to empower femininty and put it in a positive light is important in order to reach equality, and that's how I see the fist. But if you see it as a fist to represent taking over men, then I can't really argue against gynophobia (not that I want to argue at all).

but do they really need an entire movement focused entirely on women still? the 'ban bossy' campaign went viral at the same time that boys were doing way worse than girls in every faucet of education. don't you think it's about time they stopped pretending to care about equality and actually actively work towards equality?
