ditch the forum and modernize, young ppl use discord not forums - games arent rlly social medias anymore
despite the way they are talking, it's not just a reactionary hatred for a perceived trend. discord is actively harmful to any attempt to share and preserve actual information. particularly in the long term, because discord does not make a profit, and eventually they're going to run out of gullible VC money. you can't back up a discord server. discord messages are hardly searchable within discord, and not at all from outside. you can't google a problem and find a discord discussion about the solution. people end up asking the same loving questions over and over again, because even if discord's search might have returned something useful, that's more trouble than just asking it again. for the people who do care about a community, answering the same bullstuff question a thousand times because nobody gives a stuff sucks actually. and then stupid people who don't know how to write software end up making half-assed bots that attempt to automatically answer common questions, only for it to get a hundred false positives and fail to identify when people actually ask the question. discord is fine for a strictly social community related to a game or whatever, but it does not and never will be able to make up for the practical functions that a forum or something can serve

and deleting an existing forum in favor of moving to discord is just deranged. that's not really relevant to this specific scenario but I wanted to complain about it while we're on the subject. you have to be insane to come up with that idea. you can't put even ten seconds of thought into it and still think that's a good move

I am begging you not to recreate the UI of blockland. and I can't tell from the video either way, but if you are actually limited to using the colors in a colorset, that is an absolute travesty. that decision didn't even make sense in 2007, much less now
also it's kind of cringe to name it after yourself
otherwise good luck

those are all really cool. I feel like the one second from last looks a bit off balance, but the actual last one is easily my favorite (although it's a close call with the big one in the middle. I think it gets second place for me only because it looks more scifi than witchy. but i like scifi so that's why it still gets ranked highly anyway). sick

Russia has been trying to encroach on their land for years and has violated the Geneva Convention. Standing up to this persistent bully is admirable.
Even if he were just doing this cause he's bored, which probably isn't the reason, how is this affecting you at all or negative? He didn't join CIA, he's a militant fighting Russia. Guide me through your moral compass.
first of all he said it was the reason

[...] Did the Marine Corps, got out and tried college with the GI bill, failed massively then tried retail. Did that, got bored and never really felt like I could adjust back to civilian life [...]

and something aint gotta personally affect me to be bad. I don't know enough about middle eastern geopolitics to say definitively whether it's true, but I will take Aide's word and NanoCap's implicit agreement at face value and assume that, indeed, he fought with groups at separate times that were ideologically opposed to one another. so it's safe to say that he doesn't do this for the advancement of his own ideology, he does it, like I said, because he is bored. and he can't even be bothered to pick a side while getting his kicks. again I don't know enough about the conflicts to criticize the exact groups he fought with based on what they did (and it doesn't help that he never said specifically, but in some cases it's easier to infer than others), but I reckon drydess is probably correct on that

if you don't agree that it's bad to go fight in randomly chosen wars on randomly chosen sides, then you have fundamentally different ideas regarding the use of violence from mine, so whatever. the war in ukraine may seem to be a more "noble" cause, and sure, I would agree he is at least on the right side of this one, but I don't believe that his personal justification for the decision is as noble. can't help but wonder how much money he's making off his youtube channel with 500k subscribers

also he was in the actual marines, and fighting wars for the US is ethically irredeemable to me. obviously none of you will agree on that specific point so you don't have to respond because I don't care

how do you know that's his name? he didn't even say it.
his posts here seem to align pretty well with the videos on that channel. being in the marines, getting involved with kurdish revolutionaries, living in a van, then the war in ukraine
what did he do
for me, I think just being in the marines is reason enough lol. but flying abroad and inserting yourself into other peoples' conflicts because you got bored would surely qualify even if you don't personally draw the line at joining our own military
and that's just the stuff he talked about doing here. if he is also the one posting this mix of propaganda, misery research, and military special interest content on youtube then that's just going the extra mile to be a stuffhead. but who knows about that one. he's hardly the first american idiot to engage in this kind of behavior
