Suggestions & Requests / Official Voice Chat Support
« on: September 16, 2014, 06:15:12 PM »
Its 2014, majority of Steam Games have this functionalitynearly all online multiplayer games have this function.

This is not a X is a replacement for X your asking thread (That means I'm not asking for an alternative like Team Speak), this is about official Torque Voice Chat Support, why?

Its more useful than typing everything it (most of the time)
Imagine playing a game and instead of stopping to type you just push your mic key and talk to your fellow players, or if your in a intense TDM instead of having to stop and type and risk being killed, you just keep going hit your mic key and talk to your team mates.

It has endless possibilities, Freebuilds, TDMs, RP's, you name it.

Now here are some reasons people have said they don't want mic support:

"Nobody wants to hear kids screaming" - Hey listen, there is a magical button called the Mute button, it makes your problem go away. t would be in the player list menu, or if you don't want to hear anything from a mic, you can disable mic in the options.

"Dependency on Mic will end up killing the chat" - Nobody is forcing you to use a mic, people will still read what you type.

"Mic Spammers" - Mute, other than that its kind of equal to chat spamming, if an admin didn't take care about it its their problem.

To sum it up its 2014 and we need official mic support, not an alternative like teamspeak.
Something that will let you speak to the whole server, in any server.

Suggestions & Requests / Updated Direct X Support
« on: September 11, 2014, 07:00:35 PM »
Direct X Support was removed I think some time after v0002 (unless it somehow made its way to retail beta)

It was outdated and worked poorly, if we had updated Direct X Support that could fix many things, maybe even the light
limit, or other graphical bugs.

As far as I know Direct X support was removed due to its poor performance, however I heard it is not removed, according to what I read about TGE the option is hidden from the game (I could be wrong about this).

If we can improve upon the way it functions it could lead to any number of possibilities, maybe even better performance where those who don't have good performance with OpenGL(I run 60fps on OpenGL, its not really an issue on my end)

I don't really know what else could be improved with fixed DX Support, as there may be drawbacks with it as well.
It could be possible that optimizing OpenGL could be a better option...

Suggestions & Requests / A New Lighting System that runs as an addon.
« on: September 09, 2014, 05:44:53 PM »
Sort of how we got Static Maps, the alternative save system...why not make a new lighting system that runs as an addons.

Sort of how you enable say...System_NewLighting and that whenever you spawn a light it runs like that instead of the default lighting system, if this is even possible.

Either ways possible or not, I feel this has to be possible somehow, regardless of how hacky it can be.

Suggestions & Requests / Metal Slug 3/5/7/XX LV-Armor
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:28:39 PM »

The LV-Armor

It is sort of like a Mech/Suit that is in Metal Slug 3 in the Third Mission, It uses the weapon the player has, and has boosters that activate after jumping(Basically double jump).

There is also variants/upgraded version in Metal Slug 5, and again in Metal Slug 7/XX

Metal Slug 3 LV Armor - The primary reason this thread was made.

Information on the LV-Armor can be found here.
Video

Metal Slug 5 "Standard Mecha Unit" -Optional, but would be cool.

More Info on the Mechas and their variants can be found here.

Metal Slug 7 Variant "Slug Armor" - Optional, but would be cool.

Information on the Slug Armor can be found here, just scroll down after.

How would it work?

Many people have made Mech Vehicles by the common method of using Playertypes, Physics Vehicles I assume would complicate things and add restrictions.

For the LV Armor, any weapon equipped would be made invisible and the projectiles would be fired when the weapon is used.
Double Jump I guess could be simulated using Jets.

I think about three others have suggested it before, including me, this would be awesome if made.

Suggestions & Requests / [Request]Can anyone fix Weapon_ElmentalSpells?
« on: August 12, 2014, 09:45:47 PM »
Weapon_ElementalSpells.zip

The problem is the fire spell breaks any lava environment, and the air spell's double jump seems to be broken.

If someone could fix this it would be appreciated.

Suggestions & Requests / View Bobbing in First Person (Addon?)
« on: August 11, 2014, 12:28:00 AM »
I don't know why I never noticed View Bobbing isn't in Blockland.

Incase you don't know what view bobing is, here is an example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_XmByqVU1I
Its an example of Minecraft with view bobbing on/off.

I think it would be a nice addition, if it can be made.
Hopefully clientsided.

I just thought that General Discussion may not be the best place for topics regarding servers that are hosted.

So I had the idea why not a new board named servers, heck maybe even a child board in general discussion will do.
It would make browsing for servers better, and would also clean up general discussion.

I think personally think this would be a great addition to the Forums.

Suggestions & Requests / Start Game Menu Idea #2 Addon Info Tab!
« on: July 01, 2014, 06:10:09 PM »
I had another great idea someone could probably use, it has to do with the fact many addon's still have a RTB Description file! I thought that
since the file is not in use anymore, maybe there could be a way to use it in the custom game's addon selection screen.

Simply have an info tab placed next to the addon and it would open the description the same way RTB used to have descriptions for addons.

Quote
The info tab would display info about the addon the same way rtb used to handle addon descriptions, and there's already many addons with a description.txt file, so it would be possible to utilize it, maybe an image preview would be nice too, except it would be irrelevant to events,sounds,supports,systems...I'll probably make that suggestion it's own thread...maybe.

I thought about it and I think its a great idea, but what do you guys think? I find it a great way to deal with addons with vague names.

EDIT 7/1/14:Thank you Advanced Bot! It is greatly appreciated!

I have been trying to set up my server for a while now, and everything goes well until I spawn and see the same message over and over again...

"Datablock Limit Exceeded!"

Now I know what your thinking..."Turn off some add-ons!You don't need all those weapons, or vehicles ect."
However the problem is not I have too many vehicles or weapons, I use many server scripts and other things like support systems and slayer.

I have to constantly be starting games and toggling stuff off until I get right bellow the datablock limit...due to many add-ons having different amounts of datablocks.

A side question: What is the datablock limit?

Anyways, I had a idea, meter on the start a game gui, within custom that scans your add-ons and totals up the datablocks! It would also show you if you are under or over the limit.

That was one idea, another was have it show you the amount of datablocks each one takes(if that is even possible).

Bear with me its an idea I had in the past but at the time not many people supported the idea, now hopefully there's a guy out there that can make this possible
