Canned soup and dehydrated foods don't taste as good as their fresh counterparts, but they're cheap and last absolutely forever on a shelf if left sealed. Additionally, they only need water and heat to cook, and clean water can be made by filtering and boiling nearly any sort of fresh water.

The resources we have on this planet are finite and they will run out fast with 9 billion and more on this planet.
