a very interesting opinion, one of which I agree with. Just wondering what's the forum's take on the matter.

Title.

I want to create a game mode for a game, such as the ones in the title.
I want to create an online open world cowboy themed game mode for a game that's already been created, if not I'll probably use unity to create it.
Thought I'd see if anyone here has a good idea, thanks.

Would it be possible to have a mod where when a brick is activated the player will automatically be sent to a named brick using velocity?
I'm making a zip wire feature on one of my servers and working out the exact velocity direction is way too much effort.
thanks.

Off Topic / Star Wars comics.
« on: May 18, 2015, 07:37:56 PM »
Decided I need to start a collection of something, I've always wanted to read all the starwars comics.
the darkhorse comic company sells 35 omnibuses of every comic.
Anyone got advice?  Best place to purchase? I'll need to ship them to the UK too. I do live near a comic book store.

"Designed from the start to be a fully procedural co-op game, Windward can be played both by yourself and with friends. Start by generating a procedural world that will be unique to you, then sail forward fighting pirates, trading with towns, doing quests or simply exploring -- it's up to you how you want to play.

As you sail about you will find resources you can make use of, upgrades for your ship, new towns that will ask your assistance, and as you get farther out from the starting area -- various pirates that will attempt to take what's rightfully yours. Combat experience will let you unlock new talents and abilities to make that particular line of work easier.

As you take up consignments with towns and fulfill their production shortages, the towns will grow, offering more quests, more resources and better items. As the towns continue to grow they will offer you a choice to upgrade your ship itself. Would you prefer a fast Schooner to explore the world, or a heavy Galleon that's able to take up 5 consignments at once? Or perhaps a massive Ship of the Line to take the fight with the pirates to their heartlands?

As you explore the world and get farther away from your starting area, the game will become progressively more difficult -- but so will the rewards. Throughout all of this you can expect the pirates to put up a fair fight, as the AI is bound by the same rules as the player: they have sight, and must explore the map before they can know what's there.

Speaking of AI, build a fearsome reputation and the AI will respect you, even fear you -- avoiding you if at all possible. Some friendly AI will even choose to follow you and assist you in your own adventures."

General Discussion / Furdle's Servers Megatopic
« on: April 26, 2015, 09:27:00 AM »
Recently I've been getting a lot of slack for dropping projects for various reasons. Some of these reasons are not my fault, so I've created this not only for my own records, but so people can understand why a project had to end. I usually host my projects for a certain time. I don't want things to dry up so I will end them when they've run their course. Some projects are ended because of the coder has been lazy/an starfish, sometimes I get busy in life and have to stop playing Blockland for a couple weeks, and sometimes I just get bored and lose all motivation with no support. If you like what you see, make sure to contact me and maybe you could help out on my next project. Most of these projects have had other people working on them, Thanks to everyone that's helped out so far! These are all in order (Most recent - Oldest)

Current Project

none.

Furdle's Solitude
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=272573.0
Build and mod are half finished. Project dropped due to my life being way to busy to play any computer games at all.

Furdle's Pirate RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=278270.0
Something I built for fun, pretty much finished it to the level that I wanted to built it to.

Furdle's Starwars RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=277045.0
Still a work in progress, had to pause the progress due to university work, but will continue later in the year.

Furdle's Grand Theft Auto
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=265279.0
The second installment of my most successful project. After the first version, Siba made me a massive mod, I had lots of support with the build and had a lot of fun with this project! It however did run its course, and when I started to stop enjoying hosting it, I decided to close it down. It died with honor. Probably wont host it again any time soon. Will not release anything from the server.

Furdle's Snowsport RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=262668.0
Now this project was something I had a lot of fun on! Created a big mountain with lots of different tracks, Alexander let me use his log cabin which looked beautiful on top of the big mountain. Hosted lots of cool competitions where players could go head-to-head in big jumps, and trick parks. Might host something like this again soon!

Furdle's The Lord of The Rings RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=257572.0
A small project to pass time, never finished it and I never really intended to, just wanted to make a cool build with RPG elements to it!

Furdle's Kingdom Crusade
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=254172.0
A large scale project, massive build was pretty much near completion, but Trinick was coding and he decided to bail out last minute. Will use the build for something in the future.

Furdle's Pirate RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=252873.0
http://mrlolphotography.tumblr.com/post/78118645365/also-built-by-furdle
The first of my pirate RPG's had some awesome work on this, came out exactly as I'd like and the build was one of my best build's I've ever made! It was hosted for a while then ended when I thought the time was right.
Also check out Rotondo putting it out in the twittersphere! https://twitter.com/rotondo/status/501193089978236928

Furdle's Grand Theft Auto
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=250365.0
The first installment of my Grand Theft Auto games. I started this one as an RP to decide how I'd like the mod to work, then Siba designed the mod around what I thought would work well. We had quite a lot of fun and I learnt a lot about what mods you'd need for a server. Definitely a key server in my progress towards becoming a good producer.

Furdle's Pacific War RPG
-No topic-
I wanted to create a Pacific War styled TDM with RPG elements, came up with the concept and worked really hard to make a nice build, but it all fell through when the coder was too lazy to finish the mod. Can't remember who the coder was, but it was annoying! Might be able to use the cool build later on.

SPO's Red Block Redemption
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=245563.0
An awesome project I directed with SPO. We worked pretty hard on this awesome build, ran its course for a while before we got bored of hosting it. Had plans to create a second update, completed the build for the second update, but the coder, Swollow, got lazy and quit.

Furdle's Starwars TDM(s)
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=244926.0
Really enjoyed building and hosting these three TDMs. Inspired me for the Starwars RPG that I'm now working on two years later. Really really popular server. Because I couldn't find support for creating weapons, I had to use some stuffty starwars weapons from 2010, they looked really nice and they were good, but I have to admit they weren't balanced. I get a lot of requests to host this again, glad a lot of people enjoyed it. Stopped hosting when I thought the server was finished.

Furdle's Mall RPG
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=233880.0
Created a really awesome mall, it was going to be a tycoon type of game. Whole project fell apart when Wrapperup lied about actually working on code, when I eventually realized, I couldn't find a replacement.

Furdle's The Blocking Dead
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=214857.0
The first project I would actually consider to be official enough to put on here. Built back in 2012, I really enjoyed the walking dead and wanted to make a zombie survival server. Had some nice builds and enjoyed creating it. Didn't use a lot of mods as I wanted to keep it simple. Hid weapons all over the server. RTB Hosting sponsored me and gave me a free server, which was really awesome, although it all fell apart when I realised that bots don't work when the host disconnects, and as I wanted it to be a dedicated server, I decided to play it for a while then ended the project.

This topic took ages to create. I'll update it if I think of any other builds that I've created. Let me know what was your favorite, and maybe I might do something similar or revive it. By creating this topic I realize I'll probably churn out all the drama which each of these projects had surrounding them, try and keep it on topic. Thanks.

« on: April 24, 2015, 08:30:35 AM »
Built a little naval fort with some different ships. I'm hosting this as an RPG too, so come along if you'd like to check out the build and try out the RPG!
(Not to be mistaken by my last Pirate project: http://mrlolphotography.tumblr.com/post/78118645365/also-built-by-furdle#notes)
As usual, I've asked Mr Lol to take some images for my build, you can check out the full set and his other work at http://mrlolphotography.tumblr.com/
Everything is built by myself except a few of the buildings in the bottom right picture.

Ships pictured:
The Night Raven Frigate (West Side)
Frigate (North Side)
Man of War (South Side)
Gunboat (South Side)

The Naval Fort defense weapons:
North Tower - 4 Cannons
West Tower - 4 Swivel Cannons
South Tower - 4 Cannons

The ships are made with 4x terrain, the fort is made out of regular terrain, with 8-bit mod-ter prints available here - http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=252767.0

Games / An email I received from Aftermath.
« on: April 09, 2015, 11:56:38 AM »
"Romero's Aftermath
Welcome to Romero's Aftermath Early Access Alpha !

Romero's Aftermath is the spiritual successor to the infamous yet very popular zombie survival game Infestation: Survivor Stories formerly known as WarZ. The development team behind Infestation wanted to create a new experience for Infestation/WarZ players making sure to keep best parts of the game that made it popular, while avoiding controversial decisions and plain stupid mistakes that were previously made...

Unfortunately, it was impossible to make the modifications to the existing game under the partnership with Infestation's publisher – OP Productions LLC. We had to leave and start from scratch.

We do believe that what we’ve got is potentially one of the greatest zombie survival games on the market, and we want to make sure that all Infestation players are be able to try it for themselves. To make this happen we’re making this game FREE to all Infestation players.

Everyone who has an active account in Infestation will be able to create a free account in Romero's Aftermath as soon as game reaches Open Beta. In the meantime we invite you to take a peek at the game by joining us in the Early Access Alpha

As a thank you to the most active Infestation players that supported us over the last 3 years, we’ve created a special FREE founders package so that you can try Romero's Aftermath without spending any money on an Early Access Founders Package.

Romero's Aftermath is a unique fruit tree bearing over three years of experience working on Infestation and seeing all the good, the bad and the ugly while making Romero's Aftermath to be better in all aspects.

I received this email a couple weeks ago, decided to try out the game.
I enjoyed WarZ when it first came out, Pass and I got about 100 hours each playing the game, I know its probably the worst reviewed game of all time, but I think I'm going to try this one out.
I think if you say a game is stuff that you haven't even played is childish, so I'm gonna give it a chance.

Will post a short review.
