Games / Re: what game(s) had the best story or your favorite ending
« on: November 14, 2017, 06:38:58 AM »
Alice: Madness Returns, Spec Ops: The Line, Assassin's Creed III, Batman: Arkham Knight, Mass Effect 2, Bioshock, Deus Ex, Dishonored, F.E.A.R., Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal, The Wolf Among Us, Sam & Max: Season 2, Halo 2/ODST/Reach, Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Far Cry 3, The Simpsons Game, Grand Theft Auto IV, Portal 2.

There's probably more I'm forgetting, but of all the cinematic games I play, those are the stand-outs for a good story, a great ending, or both.

i don't see why you would get the enhanced version over the original 2011 release of skyrim
It was free since I already had the basegame and all DLC.

Games / Where Should I Start With: Elder Scrolls?
« on: November 13, 2017, 05:12:45 PM »
I'd like to turn this into a megathread or just have this as a series of topics where newbies to a series can get opinions on where they should start.

I've got all the Elder Scrolls games. Even have Morrowind for the original Xbox. I honestly don't know where to begin though. I realise Skyrim is the most gentle to newcomers with its mechanics, while Oblivion and Morrowind are the most rewarding as far as the story, even if the gameplay is a bit arse at times. Where should I begin? Go the hard route or take it easy? What mods should I get? If I go Skyrim, I'd like to play the Enhanced version.

Looks exactly the like the garbage I thought it was going to be. Why can't EA let NFS die a dignified death and go ruin Burnout's name?

I will let the community vote for the second most popular Australian on this forum after me, who I will select as my target for murder so there can be no competition to my throne.

Well, at first it looks like this:

But then when you see it in Explorer, it looks like this:

I need to fix my taskbar shortcuts too. I use Spotify instead of iTunes and Unreal instead of Unity.

Brother just wrote off his $60,000+AUD Ford Ranger XLT. Not sure of the year, exact model details or the full list of upgrades he invested in, but it was his one pride and joy after all the hobbies he gave up to focus on installing more and more stuff to it. Bullbars, dashcams, new tires, suspension, safari upgrades, stuff for the rear tray, stereo system etc. He's a stubborn bastard so he's probably physically fine, but I'm sure that car's probably cut him deep right now, since he's going to be driving a crummy little Japanese hatchback my sister owned to his work (dispatcher for a massive trucking company) from now on.

Good news. His car wasn't the one written off. His forget off tank of a ute demolished the thing he hit. NRMA (insurance company) repaired the "relatively light damage". No deaths (Australia doesn't forget about with safety ratings on our cars) but there's blood over the steering wheel so my Mum and Sis have gone to clean and collect the truck.

Here's a similar looking base-model, but his was well done up. Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos before the accident.

I'll try squeeze out some more details of the full accident report, but I think he got in a head-on.

Where's the introduction? Details on what this server is and why we should join? Examples of who is already in it? Come on OP, this is pathetic.

Australians have no right to criticize american cuisine when you are the same sociopaths that made Vegemite.
Spreadable beer, so you can get drunk without the cops or your boss having a go at you. You yanks aren't smart enough to enjoy it.

I expected more from the descendants of the British and French, but I guess feral children never really regain their class or sophistication.

It's nice to see that the Americans, as a society, still have unrefined palates and a poor misunderstanding of true cuisine.

Games / Re: What were your best moments in Online Gaming?
« on: November 09, 2017, 03:26:50 PM »
Today I got the wild idea to figure out how to rank up the Strength, Stealth and Flight stats, since those have been quite low (since I never melee and I stopped flying a while back) and most other players my level have them maxed.

The crew and I did a number of missions, eventually we got our favourite, A Titan of a Job. Me and Jun went off to go rank stats, while Clownfish, Maxwell and Steve went off to do forget knows what. After somebody killed somebody else and removed our one spare spare life, eventually I see the notification; Jun and Maxwell had run into each other and both died. Steve called it and said he'd go finish the mission (because it's no fun spectating while others are grinding), and I told him I'd work my way over there slowly so I could bust a couple more people up for the Strength stat.

By the time I arrived at the Hanger, it had all gone to stuff. Steve was dead, his jet was "gone", the Titan was on fire, the truck's trailer had disappeared and there was still two dozen pissed off army dudes waiting for me. As I started to snipe them from behind my RE-7B (while chugging down snacks thanks to the game freezing whenever I was exposed), Clownfish flew in on his bike and got annihilated.

After duking it out and killing all the cunts (and Steve's internet connection forced him to drop), despite the commands of my fallen comrades to blow the ship up and force a mission restart, I soldiered on, got inside the Titan and did my best to take off. Two of the engines (3&4, both on the right) were completely dead, and the 1&2/Left engines were heavily damaged and prone to cutting out. Taking off was a nightmare, and keeping the bird in the air wasn't any easier.

Due to the uneven power distribution (and since GTA doesn't have realistic flight controls like I have in FSX), the AC-130 forgetship wanted to barrel-roll like a mother forgeter. In order to keep it level, I had to constantly apply rudder and counter roll, trying to keep it straight. I also retracted the flaps to reduce drag and did my best to pitch down to increase thrust.

I'll be honest, the landing was the tightest thing I've ever done, and I so wish I got a screenshot of The Moment™. I came in on a 45 degree angle to the runway, still pitched nose-down and half-way down runway length-wise while at full speed. With a quick Scandinavian Flick and some mad holding on the breaks, I brought that sucker down and claimed my $25,270 prize.

That was my greatest moment in all of my GTA Online experience.
