Sorry to be responding to a sub-conversation in this thread so late but I was out for a few days.

I like how all the druggos immediately jumped on the "video games are worse" train to try and defend their hobby as if either one is any worse than the other.

Anything you do has a chance of killing you. I'd rather take the option that costs far less, lasts a lot longer and is easier to share with friends (aka video games).

Or also because she was sick of the white knighting.
I think you like throwing those words around without actually understand what they mean.

I really don't see a problem with this. Learning through games (and activities in general; the average human is a kinaesthetic learner and so theory classes are absolute bullstuff) is the way we need to be going, and these kids will be able to get a much better quality education because of it.

You can mock it all you want because "lol minecraft is fer autismos lel", but I really hope that more educational facilities start to incorporate game tech into their teaching tools and really help the students get involved, motivated and learning.

More people have been murdered by the name of god.

Religious people are crazy and they will kill you if you question their faith.
That's 100%, undeniably true. I'm actually on my way to shove a knife through Tony's heart right now, and no amount of logic or science will stop me. That's because it's very absolutely clear and not a vast misconception that all religious people are crazy forgetwits who want to Jesus away sins with the power of a giant chaingun.

You don't sound like a cunt at all.

i never knew this, i couldn't even remember that there was swearing in that movie lol
Neither did I until I was reading about the film. Turns out they removed the swearing for a few versions including the TV edit and the VHS, and then brought it back for the Blu-Ray edition.

i blame disney for introducing it to kids

hell even my little cousin knows about it, and he's like
6
But how is that a problem? Disney takes a lot of things that are extremely not kid-friendly and polish them up to be palatable with a G/PG rating. They can't be held responsible when a parent fails to do their duty and research their kids interests.

I'd rather a smaller, manageable map to a large map.

Aside from too much walking and much less polish for a large map, I feel far less in tune with a large map if that makes sense.

A good example is comparing the old NFS games to the new ones; post-Carbon EA tried to push for bigger maps in their open-world titles, and all they did was make it too hard to remember the corners and the sights. I remember all of Underground 2 and Most Wanted's maps and I was able to really put myself in those spaces, but I don't remember jack squat about Undercover or Hot Pursuit and so I always felt like I was playing a racing game.

A reason why I love Assassin's Creed: Syndicate over Assassin's Creed III is because of the tighter map size; there's parkour spaces all over map; you're almost never (the exception being one or two missions on separate maps and the park in Westminster) running across flat plains. There's also very recognisable buildings I can use as waypoints, and the collectibles are nowhere near as spread out and hard to find. In ACIII, it's a pain to walk from new mission to new mission (which is why they did a bad thing and added too many fast travel points to compensate, and on top of that forgot to compensate in the Frontier, which is my most hated map of all time), whereas in ACS I'm always close to where I need to be, so it's not a problem to have a bit of fun and run my way there.

Even in Fallout; I'd rather a smaller map with more recognisable spaces, additional content and interactions instead of more places to forgetin walk over-encumbered to. I always have and always will prefer the Vaults to the world above.

You've yet to look like a human though.

Feels good to revive this

What is the most memorable thing in a specific Assassin's Creed city you've played?
The first time you walk out of a Spy Base on the opposite side of the Thames with Churchill in World War 1. The view is absolutely gorgeous; there's that blood red afternoon sky, with incredible smoke effects and airplanes buzzing by, as well as the sea busy with all the warships. I was loving in love from the first sight.

For other, older experiences...

There's also something very satisfying about the way Florence in AC2 was constructed. That first time you climb up onto the rooftops and jump your way around the city without having to rush through the crowds below which you've already been doing for a while.

And despite it's flaws, Assassin's Creed III had some faultless enemy garrison encounters, such as the one on the south-west of the Frontier. There's several entry points including the tree tops, plenty of cover and about 50 guards in isolated positions that allow you to either slowly work your way through or just go blitzkrieg.

when that notification of text or someone logging in JUST happens when you want to click on or look at something in that area
I actually broke a monitor because of this. Probably a stupid reaction to have, but it was not my day...

If you don't know what's added, then you're probably not using it, just sayin'
Well, if you add the new C++14 flag when you run the compiler then I can confirm you're definitely using it :P

Right now trying to replicate Ratchet & Clank 3 features in Unreal 4 for my own amusement. The goal would be to make something work in blueprint, and then replicate the exact same code in C++. If I can do this process over and over, eventually I should be good to just go straight to C++ and even start implementing some of my own ideas.

I'm starting with the "Rocket Rain" feature that you can see in Annihilation and with the giant red robots that shoot green lasers. This feature basically spawns a stack of missiles in random pattern around the area Ratchet is located, and also spawns one missle at Ratchet's current location every few seconds.

My first goal was to get some basic spawn rules in place; you can define a valid "missile zone" which is the area where missiles can land, you can add the "tick poll" that's basically just how long before the next wave of missiles is allowed to be lined up, and missiles will only launch if "Ratchet" is touching the ground (might change this). I originally was working with multi-story missile zones, but I've decided to cut that until I can work out how to do proper line tracing that won't put the decals floating in mid air.

I also got the missile template working; it places a decal on the ground until the missile expires, a missile (no graphics yet) is launched and if you're in a radius around the collision you receive damage. I started working on the material which will turn the decal from orange to red to represent how close the missile is to the ground, like in the game.

Going well so far, and enjoying it more than trying to deal with engine stuff.

Take point of Assassin's Creed. It's a new location and time period per game. No one cares about the region as they will just forget about it in the next game.
Well that's just plainly false.

I get irrationally annoyed whenever specific friends message me on Facebook. Steam is fine because those messages appear in the corner and I can disable or enable sound/notifications on the fly, but with Facebook I have to switch out of the game, maximise my browser tab and then respond.

Certain people, like my ex-teachers or my best friends, I'm groovy to take a message from them any time. Hell, I'll even pause my awesome combo kill in Assassin's Creed just to see what's up. But there are some people out there who, for no real reason, make me really loving mad when I hear that Facebook messenger sound and it's not somebody I want to hear from.

What's worse is that most of these people rapid spam messages for forgetin minutes at the time. SEND ONE LONG MESSAGE, PLEASE. I know I've become a hypocrite recently, but I also don't message people unless it's a big deal (not exactly the proactive type).

And if I'm not on Facebook, they'll forgetin find some way to message me. Skype, Steam, text messages, email...they have it all man.

You know what REALLY forgetin annoys the stuff out of me? When I tell people "these are the words you use for when it's a serious emergency" and then they use them all the forgetin time so I keep falling for it like a gullible prick because my friends wanted to talk about his forgetin Fallout 4 weapon.

god DAMMIT now I'm forgetin angry
