where do you work
I was waiting for this question.
I used to work, as many of you may or may not remember as an intern at a health place in the IT department. What I didn't tell everyone is that I hated every minute of the job. It was either I was doing data entry on Microsoft excel or I was sitting around doing nothing. I felt like crap having them pay me $10.00 an hour for doing nothing. It wasn't as big a deal the first summer I worked there as it was the second summer I worked there. Once the second summer came around, it went from 2 interns and 3-4 full time people working in the IT room to 3 interns and 4-5 people in the IT room. Once the place got cluttered, they ended up running out of room for everyone to sit and one of us was sitting outside the room doing nothing and once another employee from another department would see one of us sitting out there doing nothing it looked bad for the intern and the business. More personally, I didn't feel the job as fulfilling because of the reason I said earlier and because I didn't feel like what I was doing was worth $10.00 an hour, so I didn't bother applying this summer.
Currently, I am a janitor at a church and am getting paid $11.00 an hour and I feel much better about everything about the job. For one, I am always doing something and I am never sitting around doing nothing, which is really fulfilling for me. I have always been the guy to do manual labor and this job is basically that. Other than cleaning up dirty bathrooms i also set stuff up, do heavy lifting, and other manual stuff. This past hurricane, I was payed to set the church up for the storm and had to do clean up. Which meant hauling huge logs/fallen branches. The setup was basically lift things that could blow away into the building. When there is no storm, I normally just open buildings, thoroughly clean the bathrooms, and and most importantly I help others which is honestly the most important thing for me.
