Nintendo's been adding DLC into their games recently (Smash Bros, I think Mario Kart 8?). Plus if you consider amiibo's DLC (since they add in game capabilities like Skylanders do) they make a ton of cash that way https://gamerant.com/nintendo-amiibo-sales-splatoon/

Although I have no clue if Amiibos will work with the Switch.
Nintendo's DLC is significantly more reasonably priced compared to EA's DLC, and aside from a few characters, they don't strip out features from previous games just to re-release them as DLC in the next title. Amiibo have manufacturing and shipping costs to factor in.
That and EA has a lot of single player games.

people keep arguing "aah what about PC??? i can play PC games and those wont cost me anything online!!!!"
Because a PC isn't bound to a single service, nor is it just for gaming. The reason Steam can remain a free service is because of the overwhelming number of titles they're taking 30% from. They also limit your community features (friend list size, profile content, etc) unless you play into their community market, which, also gives them a profit. And when it comes to PC, in most cases, there's either some sort of microtransaction, or the players host the servers themselves.

It wouldn't make sense to have a PC require a monthly subscription. It's an open platform spanning multiple OSes. Each console is a closed platform running on a single service and a single OS.

holy forget it's not a bunch of squares

when did blockland get this advanced

and i think i know the problem with BL's jumping being so predictable. the players are light and jump high which is fun for exploration and hanging around. but jumping full body height, and falling slow, is enough to have even moderate speed projectiles at a fair distance be easy to land against a jumping target.
most games either have a way to cancel your jump's momentum (a dash, or some other sort of action), or have relatively low jumps.

Also, to anyone saying "undertale 2!!!"
Undertale was released in 2015. The original OneShot was released in 2014, this is just a bigger remake.

a congratulations is in order; element's spastic movements have allowed him to land on the platform without death. too late, however, he realizes a problem with his plan; he has to draw and charge his knife. while he may hold the superior position of the platform, he has given up the first knife strike of the match and, in a game in which players dance around the maximum range of the knife looking for an opening, he has put himself at a huge disadvantage. although you's knife is not charged in the photograph, it would most certainly be in a real game, and he would have free reign to approach and stab element at whim. thus ends the story of element, defeated both times and unable to overcome the don't jump philosophy.

why didn't any of these grapple knife players/hosts/etc ever think to like...

add the functionality of the grapple to knife right click..?

doing a jump in BL DMs is just a bad idea in general
while there are times where a jump will save your life, doing a jump in any other situation usually results in dying

thing about these games is that its always incredibly frustrating for the people who have the biggest bases when a few dedicated players keep trying to insert themselves in their base and forget it up. it takes an admin of strong restraint to recognize that this frustration is a fundamental part of the gamemode as the stuff you spend hours on is destroyed. its never a good feeling to have a thorn in your side and no good way to coordinate a response (chat sucks for this purpose tbh)

its why i try to avoid games like rust/dayz. I unfortunately got hooked by drendran's survival server yesterday and experienced such frustration, but i got over it quickly after i quit.
The hilarity of the survival servers is when the ragdoll physics are on and people are trying to raid your tiny house. No one can even do anything because there's just a mess of bodies, but it doesn't stop anyone from trying over and over.

Other than that though, you're totally right.

Liam is a trooper. He may have been a drone, but damn he sure had devotion. And he wasn't even getting angry at the other guys. He was chuckling and seemed to enjoy the adversity.

base raiders always sucked
right, but the original hoster was so much better because it didn't have stupid rules

i really really like staying neutral on countries i don't live in.

but repeating the same thing over and over... isn't that like... a form of brainwashing?

If possible, you should mirror the video on Youtube as well. Something's weird with the embedded player on your site and it cuts out halfway through for me.
Same stuff happened to me.
Right click, save video as.
stuffty workaround but it works.

Off Topic / Re: Net neutrality is at risk
« on: January 22, 2017, 07:24:11 PM »
theres only so much explaining one can give

the badness of that mindset is that its social apathy when you're too apathetic and it gets hard to put in the effort about stopping it so it slips through as opposition fizzles out

explaining is the same thing: it takes too much effort to explain why that mindset is bad when it leaves very little reward (cause someone else will eventually ask so whats the point) so its far easier to just call it stupid
it's also just stupid.

plus doesn't the US actually have net neutrality
it's just not being strictly enforced at the moment
i think you might need to like... re-read on what net neutrality is.
yes, it already has it. that's a good thing. it's at risk. that's a bad thing.
