Off Topic / Re: Does "walking away" solve cyberbullying?
« on: December 16, 2016, 02:28:17 PM »
its not bullying if you dont interact with them in any way.
knowing someone is stufftalking you isnt a problem. you have to grow the forget up and not look at it.

you are clearly a soft lib child who plays victim cards. putting yourself in front of bullies so you can have something to complain about.
Woah now, chill with the direct attacks. I'm not speaking from experience here.

General Discussion / Re: Idea: 100+ player life simulator
« on: December 16, 2016, 02:20:07 PM »
This project failed once the thread title was written.

You're not going to get 100+ players. The only server that ever gets that many is new years servers.

it seems hard to be cyber bullied when you can block/spam emails, block people on fb, block calls and txt. nearly every game and website and app you have options to not speak to anyone at all.
you basically have to want to be bullied on the internet for it to really be an issue.

its like comp-dumb people with virus protection. it will still happen because they let it happen. nothing you can do, no matter what efforts are made will stop it when stupid allows it.
No, it's not really like virus protection at all.
You can block all you want. That only stops direct interactions. Doesn't stop them from stuff talking you to all your online buds. You can't defend yourself from that unless they aren't blocked. After all, you can't deny what you can't see.
Malware on the other hand, doesn't do that.

While leaving the situation does in fact prevent the bullying from happening...
It's also a form of surrender and doesn't allow you to remain in the place you may have been enjoying.
The stuffhead should be the one to suffer consequence, not the victim.

However...

These are the Blockland forums. Not much is lost by walking away from here. Any value here is either the 'hellhole' culture we have here, or posting in sections that are actually Blockland related. He doesn't do the latter. You could easily avoid any troubles caused by the former by only doing the latter.

Can't just do a radius check and do a minigameCanDamage check on them?

pretty sure this will end up as a stufffest between police and criminals, nothing really interesting to do otherwise
Gang wars though, fighting over controllable objectives.

Well, While you are all congratulating them for Officially remixing this meme, as someone who remembers when 'You are a Pirate' was a meme, I gotta say...

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
They didn't remix it. It's the version of the song that was in the episode, rather than the music video version.

Yeah they should add the prison and wall abilities to the hero gallery. Like... Come on, they have Torb's armor packs in there.

This sounds awful. Games are not supposed to be all encompassing simulations of reality. They're used to practice and train up skills in specific areas. We simplify and "fun-inize" content to focus down on whatever we want our player to pick up.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Expect to see this peak with a couple Twitch Streamers/YouTube Let's Players making hilarious glitch videos, and then hear nothing about it again.
Again, should probably watch the video. As I've said, they're focused on making it a fun game, not a real life simulator.
OP described it wrong.

I feel like a lot of people aren't watching the video and are just going off OP's stuffty description. This might be a pretty good game.

Watching the videos explains a lot.

They've said they want things to be fun. Jobs are like classes and you unlock skills by progressing in them or something like that.
It's like a GTA MMO.

to those outside of the US, glad you didn't have to deal with this election
we did

people wouldn't shut up about it here

Modification Help / Re: AiPlayer-based Customizable Weaponry???
« on: December 12, 2016, 02:13:56 PM »
Yeah it makes sense. you could model an ai playertype to look like a gun and make the muzzle point the eyeNode.

Also worth noting that remaking the state system would be so easy and a lot better, since you'd actually be able to change fire rate and delay between 'states' without having to restart the server. Now that its mentioned I'm beginnign to think this is genius and i'm going to try to test this out when i get home today

States will be interesting.
You could use any mount point as well and not just the eyenode.

Would require a client-side add-on, but it's possible.
given that server hosts are the one using this, i don't think its too bad to require it
Not only that, but he was also asking if he should add a gui to it.
