what happens to the host if they die?

the server crashes???

The host of a non-dedicated server can leave. But they can't rejoin or join any other server without a crash.

There's been far too many cases where we've still won even after people wanted to surrender. There's even been cases where we've come so close to winning even after that one person feeds/afks after a failed vote. Honestly, you're better off playing those last 5-10 minutes, and if the match lasts longer than that then you definitely had no idea on whether it'd be a win or a loss anyway.

That's not even why I say no. I just say no because I want to play. And honestly, if my teammates queued up for matches, they should want to play too. Why in the world would you play a game otherwise?

badspot has banned people from the master server for things like this, like hosting older versions of blockland

there is no good way to do this, the best user experience is to tell them that they're missing things and provide a link, but let them play without it

what may work better than to kick them is to password the server, and the addon automatically shows it as no password + puts in the correct password

Not really.
No one has been master banned for requiring certain add-ons. Only for flooding, faking information, and running older versions.
And letting people run around not getting the full experience is probably the worst idea. Especially when they're also taking up space and potentially harming the experience of players who are invested.
The password thing would take a lot of work, and would only make the gamemode harder  to pass onto other people when the host is done with it.
