Drama / Re: Creativity is leaving our minds.
« on: October 12, 2015, 12:24:29 PM »
It's been pretty much the same for years
With some great original servers popping up every now and then, right now there's battlemix
Battlemix has taken a few not so good turns. There's just way too much RNG to win in it. Like yeah there was always the fact you start with random weapons, and in a random gamemode. But now you have all these overpowered boxes and FX that can just have a single person clean up the entire battlefield. It's not Battlemix anymore, it's lolrandommix.
OP, I don't see you making any loving 'FUN' and 'original' servers either.
yes sure
pretty much this entire post is you whining about 'unoriginal' servers.
Yeah this, I personally have two ideas I could go through with, but unsure on which I'm actually likely to finish.

10:30/11am to 4:30PM EST?
That's definitely going to be during school hours for the most part. If at all possible after that, that would be good. If not, then if it's not too much of a bother, host it anyways for people who aren't in school/that timezone.

RTB definitely worked very well for its time, before steam. I wonder if Ephialtes would've pushed for Steam workshop integration had he stayed onboard.
Ephi stated he wanted to work on community features and services for free but there was no followup. On the contrary, on Badspot's server, Badspot claimed he offered to pay Ephi to work on BL but he wasn't interested.

do you guys think hosting on weekdays should be a thing? I'm not sure because most people are in school.
If you host it during US's typical afternoon time it should be fine.

Also, this is a newbie question but.....
What exactly is a workshop?
Steam Workshop is something where you can share saves and mods for several different games. And a couple of them allow you to submit stuff for the devs to add.

Help / Re: My server is laggy for no reason
« on: October 12, 2015, 12:14:05 AM »
It appears you've just enabled every single add-on you have, including ones that cannot even be used in custom. I recommend going through the list and disabling anything you don't absolutely need and then seeing if the problem persists, and if it does, then we have something better to work with.

there's literally no reason for there not be workshop implementation
it would only benefit, all the cons(if any) would be over-weighted by magnitudes
All the cons of steam workshop already exist here. There would just be less on steam workshop.

Is it good or not?
If you're on Windows 10, or maybe even 8, it's probably the store randomly updating the apps it installed on it's own.

i think we all know the only effort i will put into this is monetizing it via patreon and/or kickstarter
twitch subscriptions
youtube partnership

never played gmod, space engineers, etc?
Find me a space engineers workshop item with one of the following:
Abused tags.
Irrelevancy.

As far as subscriptions breaking, never had that issue in SE.

5293
Nobody uses the subforums
Yes they do. Just not for whatever game you're playing I guess.
and people abuse tags
And said mods will either be downvoted, corrected, or removed. Abused tags are still infinitely better than no tags at all. This is also something I never see.
people can upload things that aren't relevant at all
In all the games I have and actually care for the workshop content for, I have never seen an irrelevant workshop item. That being said, the same thing can happen here. And what do you know, it gets corrected here. It can just as easily be corrected over there.
and also subscriptions break a lot of stuff sometimes.
Have never had a problem.

General Discussion / Re: How can we actually grow the game?

the game's loving 10 years old isn't that long enough
Doesn't mean it has to stop growing. It still has potential. The fact that it's even lived this long is proof enough.

I meant there are some rpg scripts or whatever and you can also make an RPG with VCE
Yes, you can make a watered down and unnecessarily difficult to make RPG with VCE, but those aren't models. I would rather script it but the content I need does not exist.
