I could be wrong but with today's medical advancements Bubonic Plague would be curable, more likely treatable. Back then even a bad cold would be a death sentence. So I'd go with the plague.

OT: I was once walking home from the liquor store near my house cause I wanted a drink and all that. So as I'm walking home there's literally NOBODY on the road, and it was only 9 P.M. I was the only person who was outside at this moment, so I just decided to walk a bit faster home. There was a car that finally went down the hill but slowed down once it saw me walking, so I walked faster. I didn't look back but I could hear the car following me and going the same speed that I was. I reached my house but then the car sped off right as I opened the front door. It was actually really scary and one of the reasons I don't go out at night alone anymore.
