So I went on a cruise to Alaska in the beginning of August for 10 days. It was a cruise, which had an extremely expensive off-wifi data charge. $2.00 for 8MB of data, so I said forget that and turned off my data usage COMPLETELY on my iPhone 5. I turned off roaming, and 3G/4G usage all together. Even powered off my phone. Once I anchored in Alaska, I switched off my data for a few mins (probably like 7 minutes) just to check my mail and texts. I was connected to one of Alaska's AT&T towers so I knew it wouldn't charge such a ridiculous fee but I knew I still didn't want to use data so I turned it off again. I haven't touched my phone until I landed back at my house.
Few weeks later, the phone bill arrives and tells them I owe over $400 for data usage. I was like what the forget and called them and they TOLD ME that I was on my phone every night past midnight for half an hour. First of all, that makes NO loving sense.
I HAVE NOT TURNED ON MY PHONE DURING THE ENTIRE CRUISE, BESIDES THE 7 MINUTES TO CHECK MAIL/TEXTS WHILE I WAS ON SHORE IN ALASKA.
I HAD NO OTHER PEOPLE STAYING IN MY BUNK OR KNOW THE PASSWORD TO MY PHONE.
EVEN IF I WAS ON DATA, THERE WAS NO WAY TO CONNECT BECAUSE THERE IS NO SERVICE IN THE MIDDLE OF A GIANT 13 STORY loving CRUISE SHIP.
I'm seriously pissed. I'm trying super hard to save money for college with the only bill I have to pay is car insurance. Now they want me to cough up money for something I clearly didn't do. My parents don't believe me when I say I wasn't on it and theres literally nothing I can do besides paying something so handicapped.
