Transport Tycoon is a game made by Chris Sawyer about making your own transporting company. It has multiple versions, some of them fan-made. The game has multiplayer support but dont expect it to work on anything other than OpenTTD.
The original Transport Tycoon. The least played version of the game. Theres still an ongoing race to crack the demos of the game to access the early monorail trains.
Transport Tycoon Deluxe is an standalone expansion. You cant really install it onto the original and it contains way more stuff like updated graphics and a UI that would later be used in Rollercoaster Tycoon. Has fanmade patches like TTDPatch for the game to work on modern operating systems.
OpenTTD is a fanmade version made to work on modern operating systems and to work in C instead of machine code. It has a multiplayer mode.
How to use the vehicles in the game:
Use trains for every type of cargo in the game but oil. They are the strongest vehicles in the game.
Road Vehicles like buses or trucks are useful for making transfer lines to trains or to transport people from one end of the city to another to make the city grow with more population.
Planes are useful for travelling huge distances of the map. They are useful in the late game. Dont use large planes on small airports. Infact, dont build small airports because its much better to use big planes.
Boats, dont build them. They only are useful for transporting oil in temperate climates. In other climates, they are totally useless.
