Gus orders Culexes A through E to break off and screen for the squadron. The operators are free to pick targets and engage as soon as they close to range, provided no further orders from Crash.

Gus takes a moment to appreciate his tremendous stupidity for not clarifying to the pilot.

"Keep us out of range of the destroyer squadron's guns."

He looks between the screens in front of him, a tiny corner of the tactical map dedicated to the battle raging far from them. A small alert notifies him of the fact that the cruisers are now aware of their presence.

"Izzy cruisers over the city are looking our way. Get as low as you're comfortable with, I don't want to risk their wrath."

The drones maintain their position just forward of the Condottiero as it and the rest of Mjolnir close on the Excelsior, screening for the rest of the squadron.

Gus uses the convenient amount of screens to observe both battles simultaneously. In preparation for the assault on the destroyers, Gus speaks up over the crew comms.

"Captain Harkonen, get us under those guns and out of range of their drone screen."

He flips the comm switch to squadron, and addresses Jaakko.

"Crash, we're in position. I've got nine Culexes, call targets when ready."

Gus takes his seat behind the pilots chair and familiarises himself with the alien controls.

Gus boards the massive level bomber's crew compartment, looking over the stations of the drone controllers as well as his own post. The pilot is also aboard, performing pre-flight checks. Gus sets his helmet down on his chair and approaches the co-pilots seat.

"This is an impressive plane," he says, looking over the vast amounts of controls in front of them. He extends a hand towards the pilot.

"My name is Gustav Thomsen. I'll be the drone controller for this flight."

Gus looks at the two with a grin, walking over when he hears his name. He extends his own hand to the pilot.

He smiles again and shakes his head at Jaakko.

Gus observes the briefing thoughtfully with the rest of Mjolnir and Djuriskas. He draws the short stick during the discussion of how precisely to handle the airships, losing the proverbial "not it" game to take the Condottiero. While not particularly pleased to be forced to sit in the back and control drones from a screen, he accepts the necessity of the plane and its payload for the mission.

He hears Jaakko's new nickname for Graf while studying the maps and (nearly) conceals a laugh.
