let's be clear here I'm trying to add context as to why they may have boycotted Budweiser
I wouldn't have done it myself and it's kind of childish
and looking at all the other ads that played, this is on the milder side of political, but that doesn't make it not political
I honestly would've boycotted Audi or the anti-wall people if I were them, then again I don't typically boycott anything
the response could also be "forget you budweiser, do you think I'm stupid? I get it, stop shoving it down my throat"
didn't you find it at least mildly annoying in school how they taught the "don't do drugs" "don't be a bully" "don't rape people" stuff constantly (at least once per grade for me) as if you didn't get it the first time?
adding onto that the political things that they've done in the past, and it's really easy to construe this as "budweiser thinks we're anti-immigrant tribals"
The anti-immigration that the person in the ad faced is a certain degree of wrong that the ad is trying to address. When someone makes an ad saying "don't lynch people" the typical response wouldn't be "what they think that because I support Annoying Orange I want to lynch people? they think i'm tribal?" it would be "yes, that's a horrible thing to do. let's stop it" If you are a conservative or republican and you are alright with immigrants who came here at any period of time, and by alright I mean you don't go over to random muslims in the street and tell them to go back to your country, you should have nothing worry about because this ad isn't targeting you. It's targeting the people who are directly tribal towards immigrants.
They're not trying to shove a political message down your throat. If you honestly think it's alright to be a richard to immigrants then you're objectively a horrible person. If you believe that being a richard to immigrants is a bad thing, then you shouldn't have a single issue with this ad; its a success story about an immigrant who managed to beat all odds and stigma and found a successful business, not about how Annoying Orange is an evil national socialist and all white people are tribal.
The people boycotting this ad think that common courtesy is a leftist mind-trick slash political statement. You're clearly better than these people, don't stoop that low. Just keep it simple and say "i respect their right to boycott but they're still dumb"
