Modification Help / Psuedocode for clicking and holding + time?
« on: January 17, 2016, 10:49:20 AM »
Trying to run an onTrigger raycast that requires the player to hold down their left click for 10 seconds while continuously looking at a set object. Once the 10 seconds of held click are over, a function is passed. What's the most efficient way to go around this?

Off Topic / My grandfather passed on a Kar98K Bayonet to me
« on: January 16, 2016, 09:04:42 PM »
Apparently my great grandfather used it to save his life during ww2. Stabbed a russian soldier or something. He's been passing it on through the family and such, and being the oldest and most sane male in my family, I get to inherit the bayonet. It's loving legit too. It's a little blunt and such, i tried cutting a tomato with it and it didn't do jack stuff. The ID is 0310316, though its kinda dirty and I can't see the numbers and stuff. The official manufacturer is Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Company, Solingen and most internet sources price it at around 160-300$ USD. Should I sell it or should I kill my family because they were national socialists.

Excuse the image quality, I took these on a loving potato.

I'm trying to simulate a 52 card poker deck for my Blackjack server. What's the best or most efficient way to go about this? I want to create a deck with all the proper suits and cards dictated by probability but realistic probability, so that no more than 4 of the same card value can be picked, and picking a card will remove that card from the deck, thus lowering the active probability of drawing it again, while slightly boosting the odds for picking a different card.

Should I use script objects? Variables? Arrays? I know to use getRandom(0,12) to specify the face value, and probably getRandom(0,4) to specify suit, but I do still want to realistically represent card loss and drawing as accurate as possible.

Share solutions/ideas.

Drama / No more apology threads. Seriously.
« on: January 07, 2016, 05:28:56 PM »
It's obvious that these apology messages are becoming trendy among the youth of the blockland forums. Can somebody please agree with me when I say that apology threads are absolutely disgusting, and we really don't care about your apology. We would rather see the change happen than have you write a bunch of words with no meaning.

So far the only sincere apology has come from spongebob.

Modification Help / Having a client control another client's player object
« on: December 17, 2015, 01:37:40 PM »
Trying to get client A to have full control over client B's player movements at will.

I assume it involves setControllingObject, but I'd rather know for sure what's the best way to approach this problem.

Alright so it's client.getcontrolobject(player);. Now I'm wondering, how do you remove client B's control over his own player so client A can control client B freely?

Off Topic / [Religion Megathread] - What's your faith?
« on: December 10, 2015, 10:27:26 AM »
This is a place for people to talk about their beliefs in a friendly and nonconflicting manner. I also want to collect data on people's faiths and such, so yeah. I'll create a poll in a few seconds and expand upon it in the future.

My guess is that Atheist/Non-Religious will be the most voted, considering this is the internet.

Personally I follow the Nation of Islam loosely. I'm not a devout follower but I do believe in the teachings of the NOI and find them very interesting and influential.

What you SHOULD do:

   - Express your religious beliefs or faith in a non-confrontational manner
   - Preach or spread word of your religion or faith
   - Post links to websites or books pertaining to your religion or faith
   - Talk about theoretical or scientific matters as long as they pertain to your religion or faith
   - Provide positive feedback or opinions on other people's religion or faith

What you SHOULDN'T do:

   - Express your religious beliefs or faith in a confrontational or aggressive manner as to imply superiority or disbelief in another faith or religion
   - Force your religious views upon other people
   - Express tribal, segregative, or offensive views UNLESS they are the core beliefs of your religion or faith
   - Attempt to disprove religions or faiths using secular principles
   - Provide negative feedback or opinions on other people's religion or faith

THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO WAGE HOLY WARS. WE ARE ALL FRIENDS HERE AND ARE ENTITLED TO OUR BELIEFS. PLEASE BE MATURE AND AVOID CAUSING RELIGIOUS ARGUMENTS. PLEEEEAAAASE!

Off Topic / My grandmother just passed away, pancreatic cancer
« on: November 23, 2015, 01:33:56 PM »
I got the message a couple of months ago that my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer. I tried to visit her as much as possible, but school was getting in the way most of the time. I managed to see her in the hospital for one day during this entire time period, which was last week. During my brief visit there, I was able to communicate a little bit with her, but it was difficult to hear what she was saying due to her complete loss of energy.

I was always close to my grandmother, so naturally I'm in shock now hearing that she passed away yesterday. I really wish I could have visited her more during the last year. It really does make me realize how precious time is, especially with the ones you love.

Condolences would be appreciated.

Modification Help / Player Position relative to direction/vector
« on: November 17, 2015, 05:13:29 PM »
I'm trying to establish an XYZ coordinate area around a player that changes relative to the direction they are facing.

Basically, the default XYZ stays the same regardless of the direction you are looking in
I need three variables, XYZ, that change based on the direction you are facing. Basically when you return the %pos that a bullet hits a player object, I want it so that if I shoot the left arm, it will register the same as if the player is facing a different direction and the left arm is shot.

XYZ axis, with Z always pointing in the yaw();

Modification Help / Pushable Third Person Camera
« on: October 17, 2015, 11:12:48 AM »
Is it physically possible (with the set functions and limitations of TGE) to make a pushable third person camera?

For those who don't know what that is, it's like a zelda/mario 64 camera that allows you to orbit the camera around the player in a full 360 degrees along all three axis. (Holding W while rotating the camera will allow you to walk in the current yaw direction)

If it's not possible and/or way too difficult/buggy to function in a stable multiplayer environment, please let me know. Experienced responses preferred.
