Fundamentally I agree with you, but the ruling class has only ever served the ruling class. I used to be optimistic about the state of our nation and that "eventually" the "right" people would be voted into power and change the system for the better, but time has only proven that to not be so.

Now that being said, I'm not a doomer. There will be a revolution in this country of some kind at some point, but it's not going to be by using the system/state as it exists currently, just hope it's before it's too late/ the planet literally catches fire.

class unity for elites is nothing new, it just manifests itself in the us government today. the american capacity to self educate has been increasingly prominent though with the internet (esp in the last 6 years), so I've felt good about things for the most part. they're getting more desperate each year since occupy, even just straight up detaining journalists and admitting direct intelligence cooperation with social media companies lol, very dangerous for the public but also makes it way easier to notice that this is real

I'm like a cartoonishly evil bigot and I refuse to believe there is a single person made of flesh and blood that cared enough about this stuff to actually get it overturned. This has to be some kind of manufactured moral panic thing

the only people who realistically care are the evangelical lobby, it’s definitely on the ‘moral panic’ scale somewhere

the american pro-life position could be a little more convincing if these same people don’t spend their lives damaging the financial security of single and working mothers, childcare costs, state funded in-hospital childbirth, free or affordable school lunches, universal welfare and nutritious food stamp access for children, or having less maternity (and paternity!) leave than the taliban
