Torture? No.

I'm all for the death sentence and I'm glad he got it, but torturing someone is not okay especially in a first world country. Just pump him up with cyanide and be done with it.

What we do at Guantanomo Bay is classified as torture, but these people there have it coming. It's a great form of rehabilitation.

I have absolutely no burden to prove to you that you are a tribal. It is self-evident to practically everyone who has read that thread. You're obligated to defend yourself as long as you want to claim you aren't a tribal.

Whether or not you think you aren't tribal is irrelevant to everyone because you so obviously are.

If you are unable to call me a tribal, then please do not call me one.

I wonder if Cantaloupe would be as enthusiastic about that guy dying as he was for the Boston bomber.

That said, I really didn't' care. Death is probably the easy way out, life in a supermax prison sounds like hell.

Well sorry, but for me, I am not concerned about Tsarnaev's quality of life for what he did.

You plucked two posts out of a very long thread. Please read the following article and then try again:

http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=266645.0

This thread is pretty much the entirety of it. You subtlety (and later blatantly) accused black people and minorities of being lazy inferiors who earned their place in society all by themselves. Then you accused me of 'supporting whites being segregated' and then committed forum Self Delete and got permanently banned.

Literally everyone in that thread agreed that your posts (and you, by extension) were tribal.

But we're talking about the death penalty, yes?

"Looks more to me like 100+ blacks attacking random whites, I didn't see one white face running in the video. All 100 of these kids should be charged with assault, and aggravated assault. This is a hate crime committed."

"No it is not the truth, there is a substantial difference. When it is being reported, there is no mention of race while with Trayvon Martin it was said to be "racially-motivated", and on the news you always heard it being reported as a white man killing a black man. With this, there is no talk of race even though this is a black-on-white hate crime. Not to mention, after Trayvon was killed there were riots in most big US cities and it was all over social media. It was so mainstream, that even Obama spoke out about it and the Reverend Al Sharpton."

I didn't see anything tribal in those posts, I said nothing derogatory unless you misinterpreted the posts.

I'm sorry, I thought we were arguing death penalty versus life imprisonment. Do you see the problem here?

Woah, woah, woah, woah! Now you're taking things right out of your ass. Hold up there, partner! Mind quoting to me posts you consider to be "tribal"? Anything that doesn't directly say anything tribal is not tribal. It may be something you disagree with, and it doesn't mean that it is tribal. I've said a ton of things, without the mention of race (and other people are the ones to bring race into nearly everything), and I instantly become accused of being a tribal.

No, the purpose of the justice system is not to provide the plaintiff's families with emotional catharsis. The purpose is to separate the criminal from society. That's all. If that's the justification for spending tax money on these kinds of cases, then it should be illegal.
If your ancestors were slave-owners, they probably wouldn't lynch them anyway since they've gotta have someone to pick their crops.

It's not only that, here are some other reasons as to why the death penalty may be used:

"Incapacitation: A felon in prison cannot commit crimes while imprisoned. An executed felon cannot commit a crime ever again.
2. Deterrence: The threat of punishment deters people from engaging in illegal acts.

3. Restitution: The felon is required to take some action to at least partially return the victim to the status quo ante.

4. Retribution: The felon harmed society; therefore society (or the direct victims) is entitled to inflict harm in return.

5. Rehabilitation: The punishment changes the felon in order to make him a better citizen afterwards. (The punishment can include mandatory vocational training, counseling, drug treatment, etc. (http://home.page.ch/pub/rfm@vtx.ch/punishment.html)

Also where are you trying to get at? I just said that they weren't slave owners.

this makes less sense

I'm really confused.

It's quite depressing to me how you guys are more concerned about the way in which this animal is killed, rather than congratulating the jury for their remarkable decisions and for putting these families out of their misery.

I'm not entirely against the death penalty. I think it's pointless and makes our nation come off as barbaric, but ultimately it doesn't anger me because the people who get sentenced to death have no business on this planet anyway.

However, if you're going to support the death penalty, at least be straight about why you're doing it. The two reasons that people support the death penalty are revenge and amusement. The families of the Boston bombing victims want him dead so that they can feel like their loved ones' deaths are 'avenged'. Likewise, everyone else wants him dead so that they can chuckle and mutter to themselves, "Hah, bastard got what he deserved!". The point of the justice system is to do neither of those, but rather to isolate dangerous people from the rest of society. Both life imprisonment and execution accomplish that, but execution is far more expensive (by account of all sources).

If we're going to talk about the justice system, the death sentence is used for people who are charged with such major offenses and one purpose of it is to give the families' some relief. If it means killing the man, so be it.

I think Cantaloupe's ancestors might disagree.

What implication are you trying to make? None of my ancestors were slave-owners and I know that for a fact, so pls. Only my dad is Jewish and his family came to the US many years before the Holocaust.

Call me a moron, but why should an execution cost billions or millions? Get a rope, and the job is done.

Because you're condoning torturing another human being for amusement.

A deplorable and terrible human being, yes, but it's still a stuffty thing to do. Just because you do something bad to a bad person does not make that act right.

So by supporting the death sentence implies  that I condone the torture of another human? I believe that some people have no right to be in this world if they have such intentions. I think that the five lives lost are far more important than Dzhokar's. It's not done for amusement.

The only way to describe this is forgeted up. You are just as bad as him if you take joy in the suffering and death of another human.

He was a pawn played by his older brother. He was extremely young and believed eternal glory would await him in heaven. He only killed 2-3 people, which isn't enough to be executed in a usual court. He is being executed because of the fear and the injuries, which people can recover from. The only unforgivable thing is the deaths.

The death penalty is also EXTREMELY expensive. Many times more than life in prison.

How is it forgeted up? What the Tsarnaev brothers did was forgeted up, not killing them for their actions. It's deserved, heck if I were the judge - I'd allow much more to be done. The death sentence in this instance is too good for the guy.

It's funny how many people in America are for this kind of stuff, but then condemn countries like Saudi for the same thing. lmao

It's also funny how in Pakistan, people hold celebrations for radicals who are called "martyrs".

Inhumane.

While he is deserving of the death sentence i take no pleasure in the fact that it IS a death sentence.

>5 dead
>264 injured

That sounds pretty inhumane to me. The state should waste no money whatsoever on these criminals, put these dogs down and stop wasting taxpayer money. Should we put him in a mental institution then because it is more humane, regardless of his crimes?
