That doesn't mean that the Bible is wrong either, it just means that it was written by men who didn't know what we know today. God isn't under attack when evolution is taught in schools because the Bible was written by people and not by God. You have to either take the entire Bible at face value (which is to say, believe in magic) or take is as a series of metaphors and assumptions of an ancient people - and there's nothing wrong with the second option. Religion is an outdated tool of worldly explanation, there's no way around it. As a way to live your life, it's a fine device.

there was a big movement in theology around the turn of the 20th century to "demythologize" the new testament, which seems to be the best bet for religion if it wants to continue to be relevant to the /modern man/

We already have scientific evidence that shows that if you don't use a bodily function, it becomes weaker, and then you use it for the first time under high stress, it usually fails.

i doubt we're in much danger of our finger muscles atrophying, or of losing our ability to walk or breath. though, it's pretty interesting if we look at what else we're starting to get technology to do for us. we're having it filter our emails, we have youtube algorithms decide what we watch a majority of the time, and we have services that make corrections for us on writing style and word choice. i think the first thing that's gonna go is our ability to criticize the uncontrolled growth of technology.

What do you mean by this? How is popular culture not revolving around western cultural values? I'm having a hard time understanding your point, because it looks like you're saying it's a bad thing that pop culture is pushing and prodding cultural boundaries.

they don't even know if it's stable yet though: "some theoretical work has suggested that metallic hydrogen could be metastable, meaning it will remain metallic even as the pressure and temperature that forced it there is released."
