I think it is worse because in ds1 you could carve your own path through the game with the exception of the 3 areas you need the lordvessel for
like in ds1 I can grab my favorite weapon right at the start if I know where it is but in ds2 and ds3 I gotta slog through bullstuff to get to where I want to go, and the maps are just hallways where you go from area a to area b and there's no branching at all
I like ds1 better and that's my opinion

DS2 also has bigger maps.
DS2 also has better bosses and a more interactive hub area.
2) it's about the same size wise, but ds3 is linear as forget, even moreso than ds2

like go through the bosses they're mostly big guys in armor
my main point is that ds2 is worse than ds1, not that ds2 is bad because I didn't hate ds2 I just didn't enjoy it as much
Scholar Of The First Sin for PS4 also fixes all the problems the original game had.it had the same problems imo except now you get all the dlc included
