so I dug out an old art notebook a while back and started drawing, posted a sketch, and paid 80-some bucks for a drawing tablet, woot woot
now I'm drawing with that tablet

main thing I want to say is, drawing tablets aren't that hard to use once you get used to them, and anyone who says "you are your own worst critic" never met me. I switch between "It sucks, but it sucks less than what came before it" and "I am awesome at art, bow before my amazing powers of artistry"

I use FireAlpaca and a Wacom Intuos (Art? I think? Not pro or draw AFAIK they're the only ones with differences in the Intuos line)

Excuse me if this already exists and I missed it. Post games released between 1/1/00 to 1/1/10

I'll start, 2006 game Toblo is fun. It's a CTF game where you throw blocks at each other. Walls are basically meaningless since you can just pick them up and throw them at anyone behind the wall, or just throw blocks at the wall and watch it fall over.

I try to follow the examples of those viewed as "good users" and not those viewed as trolls, yet everyone seems to hate me more than trolls. How do I solve this problem and become a better forumer? And do you view me as a troll? I'm not. I don't think upsetting people is funny.

Here's a theoretical situation that has theoretical solutions to racism and loveism.

Lets say we have the ability to replace the normal XY/XX chromosomes in our children with a new one (let's call it the Z chromosome). This causes whoever has it to have green skin and photosynthesize like plants, as well as being able to choose between male and female body parts (once they've reached a certain age, like 18 or whatever). Now, of course, these aren't going to be humans, most likely. You probably wouldn't think of them as being human. We now have this new species of intelligent beings (that are our children, still, though). There's no racism or loveism because they're all green and they have no set love.

So, this species has abilities we don't, and lets say they don't have any new health problems from any of this. That makes them genetically superior, right? Does this mean we're obligated to have ZZ children rather than normal children, since otherwise we'd basically be deciding our children would be inferior?

What about political superiority? Should these scientifically, provably better not-quite-humans be above us? Is there a reason they should be? A reason they shouldn't?

Discuss theoretical situation, please.

I'm happy to announce my project I've been working on for a little while, the Blocklounge!

The Blocklounge is a project to make a server where people can hang out and play minigames together. I currently have a minigame-building contest running here. apparently nobody cares
It will feature a map with various evented objects players can interact with and plenty of room for expansion, as well as the aforementioned minigames.

I'm currently looking for people to help me build. I really like eventing, but I'm not great at building. If you're interested, PM me, since discords are a bad idea if you make them public.

Make a minigame, contained on and above a 64x baseplate. This will be for the Blocklounge server.

Requirements:
The map is contained on or above a 64x baseplate. Don't have anything not above the baseplate.
People can exit the play area in some manner. (Don't wall everyone in unless you let them teleport out.)
The map or minigame must not require any weird server addons that'll mess with other peoples' maps' gameplay. (For example, Throwmod.)

Notes:
Your map can be as tall or short as you want, and have as many bricks as it needs. If you just want to make something simple, go ahead.

The map is going to be contained within and above a room, with a second floor players can walk around on. Click here to download a template of sorts that will help you line things up with this second floor.

The minigame will be a deathmatch minigame with a 1000-point limit. To add score for kills, use onMinigameDeath to add score to the killer. No weapons will be given as part of the minigame. Fall damage will be on.

The environment will have bright light from directly above, but anything in shadow is pitch black; you'll probably want to add some glow FX or lights in interior spaces so people can see. (Or if you don't, keep in mind that they'll be using their player lights.)

If you're going to use a custom brick pack/addon, the server will have the following and probably more:
Vertical Plates
All the default brick expansions by Demian except half-blocks
Demian's doors
Vehicle Bricks
Block Poles
SWeps (Pretty standard. Optionally you can just add item spawns with something default.)
Event_Variables and Event_AdvVCE (for those who like trigonometry)
Event_Zones (not zonebricks.) If you need permanent zones, the minigame will always be reset after the map is loaded.

I'm using Blocko Blocko's colorset with a couple extra white transparents to act as glass. You should probably grab and use that.

These maps will be shown off together on the Blocklounge server when it launches, in the order they were submitted. Once all maps have been shown off, a vote will be held for what map was best, then all maps will be released to the public to be used.

To submit a map, send me the .bls via any method.

The current deadline is February 5th, 2017. This may be extended.

tl;dr make a map on a 64x baseplate and give it to me (and then I'll release it after the voting and stuff, or you can release it before then if you want)

Suggestions & Requests / ModTer Building Tools

We need a set of simple modter building tools. Why has nobody done this yet?

Basic system stuff:
"Grid" refers to all modter bricks aligned to the same grid. This also means the same size, because the grid for 8x is smaller than 16x (just to clear it up)

Tools:
Raise/lower: Raises or lowers existing grids by 1/4th current height. Does not make slopes or anything.
Trim Corner: Removes corners. Used for making slopes (remove two top or bottom corners) or wedges and what-not. All the weird shapes.
Cull: Remove or hide excess ModTer bricks in a column (if it sees nothing but bricks of the same grid/height on all sides)
Plane: Draw a plane of blocks in any direction. Good for structure.

The question is, can you change a brick's type after it's been planted (and thus maintain events and such?)

I need a version of the laser pointer that works with bots. The current one only calls onActivate on bricks. It should be pretty easy. I looked at the code but don't know how bots differ from bricks. Blockland isn't well documented.

people are complaining about the amounts of vore in various threads (because of stocking, there's a 21 page drama)
here's a solution, it's like the furry megathread but for vore, we don't have to see it elsewhere we can just steer clear

Suggestions & Requests / Fixed/Better version of One Random Brick Pack

One Random Brick Pack has a lot of nice, lego-y bricks, and the Octo bricks that are also really nice.
But it ALSO has a bunch of weird stuff with the collision and shading (some bricks have glowy spots, that's like, soft shading or something? IDK)
This has been around for a long time and it's pretty popular from what I've seen. Why has nobody fixed the raycasting and shading stuff?

Also, there's some overlap with other popular packs (Vertical Plate Pack). You'll notice the lack of a 2x2f Round Print other than the bottom/vertical ones, that's because it expects you to use the existing one so it can expand on it. So I figure why not remove the ones that overlap with other packs, since VPP already has that and MORE vertical plates?

Here's a list of what I've seen so far, issues wise:

SHADING/GLOWY SPOTS:
All of the round bricks that aren't halved. None of the octos.
INCORRECT COLLISIONS:
Most of the "Panel" blocks. 2x2x2 Undercarriage.
DUPLICATES:
2x2f Print 90 (Vertical Plate Pack)

You can find a secret without even purchasing it. It's not hard.
For those too lazy to find it, here's some transparent: If you look at the underlined slash and bolded letters on the steam page, you get /solstice. Above that is a totally normal link to the game's site, put them together, I can't do it here without it url-ifying it and un-hiding the transparent text.
Reviews are "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam. This game apparently is supposed to get really meta. It just made another window saying "And you only have one shot, [my windows account name which I'm not sharing]."

this is partially functional (inventory sorta works) but it lets me build wherever I want and doesn't remove things from my inventory after I place them. AFAIK it's not a mod conflict since I ran it with default, slayer, v2D music, and a weaponset (SWeps).
