we could be starving

Well you should be eating whole foods. I don't see why the US gubbamint shouldn't ban any non-organic, processed foods. It's killing our children and giving them diabetes and Autism.

There is no question in my mind that this is one of the reasons why we're such a fat nation.

Proof of what
What are you using this as evidence towards

Two things: he lives in The Netherlands; and you don't. Another Dutch member has agreed too (Yosher) about the migrant crCIA, and if I stand correctly - he's Arab himself. I don't think you watched the documentary.

yes that's exactly how it went in real life
no
he's trying to get me to elaborate in detail so he can refute whatever I said, and implying he's right, effectively render whatever arguments I used to convince the family invalid and thus their cutoff of support unnecessary

but I'm in bed typing from my phone and I don't want to debate about politics

First of all: what? Also wow, I hope that your employer doesn't make you do any brown townysis. If you don't want to discuss, why would you make that post?!

I went over a lot of things, didn't know I successfully convinced them until my friend told me a week later when we hung out again and I didn't ask but I'm p sure the most pressing thing for them was the potential economic impact

What did you go over with him? What is this potential economic impact?

Chipping away at citizens rights does have a very direct affect on citizens, it's just much slower to take effect because it's going to be a while before it's noticable enough to make a difference in our everyday lives. It's still an important issue, it's just not as immediate a threat to peoples health and safety. Which, yes, are more important to discuss but our own government violating dozens of laws, the constitution, human rights without so much as a single care is something worth discussing. Forcing a 3000+ page archaic bill to chip away at citizens rights through congress in 3 days attached to a must-pass bill is a major concern. It's all indicative of a very major government-level corruption and failure of our democratic system itself which is most definitely an issue worth addressing.

It's still an issue which doesn't have a huge effect on us, like healthcare and education. Also, a tech question was just asked about government using backdoors to access info, so there you go.

Spying isn't petty, that's invasion of privacy.

It's an internal affair. Us spying on our allies might be bad, but it does not have a profound effect on each and every one of our citizens like healthcare and education.

Nobody talking about CISA and domestic spying smh

Those are petty issues, in comparison to healthcare, education, and foreign policy.

Debate is on NOW. What do you guys think so far? I think Sanders is FINALLY showing strength. Clinton is spewing the same rhetoric. Boggles my mind how minorities cant figure out that his record is the strongest in regards to civil rights.

Do you know how many people die from overdosing due to addictive qualities? A lot.
Now how many people die because of marijuana? None (unless you hotboxxed yourself to death but I have yet to see a case of that)
I don't, I quit as soon as I got the chance. I don't crave for it anymore because I've been tobacco free for a few years. The only thing I do now is smoke marijuana because of its medicinal properties.
Tell me, how do you deal with stress? How is your home situation? Enlighten me, please.

How do I deal with stress? I think about the situation, and see if there is anything I can do to fix it. I never let a problem go or just "give up". In addition, if I am in a bad environment or under stress, then I'll listen to music or take a walk outside to deal with it. I'd also maybe call a friend to get my mind away from that topic. Also, my home situation is my business.

He doesn't smoke cigarettes.

I know, I was just responding to the person who brought up his brothers tobacco addiction.

I first started medically but then the high grew on me. I found myself to enjoy the feeling of happiness and such. It makes me feel so ethereal and free.
Tobacco is terrible, when I was doing it I got to a bad point and anytime I didn't have it I was very on edge and not the person you wanted to be around. When I don't have my herbs I just get a little eh but bearable.

I tried dip once. Forget that, it's terrible.
You must live in a perfect land where stress doesn't exist.

No offense, but that's an incredibly foolish thing to say on your part. Who says that you have to inhale toxins when you're stressed or to relieve stress? The human mind is like no other, and you don't have to do anything. Anything can be altered, and you don't have to be a brilliant Rhodes Scholar to be able to think logically. Knowing the harmful effects should give you a clue to not do it. If you cant think of any other ways to relieve your stress beside smoking cigarettes, then yes (and I will repeat it); you're very stupid if you cant think of any other ways to relieve your stress beside smoking cigarettes.

It's pretty stupid to start in the first place. You don't need to be a genius to deny an offer. I've had many friends offer me cigarettes, but I never accept because there is no reason to. If you're still tempted to smoke cigarettes, despite seeing those advertisements about the harmful side effects - then you're just plain stupid.
